You can't even write Di---ck Clark's name on here with out getting censored.
The censorship is kind of insane here.
These fuckers don't know how to censor worth a damn. You can't say "y0ur mom".
Yet...ass, fuckers, fucker, titties and a few others you can say all you want. LOL
huh.
I never tried because i figured it would get censored. Well f%$k.
When ever I try anything even close I get that stupid "Buddha loves you" nonsense. When someone else tried a thread on Mr Clark it came out "Duck".
This is where you get creative with your English. Like deek, ship, fark, coock, fcuk,
That's true, but you shouldn't even have to do that, we are all adults here---I think.
Most of us but there are always a few children around
Well I guess this will be tard farmed shortly. You silly coochies and your language

I do love this place....but seriously?
We are all adults here and i just dont see anyone getting super offended by a few words.
We can just put a disclaimer on the site saying "If you are offended, go somewhere else" and loosen the strict hays code filter.
Not saying free for all, but we are all adults here...at least I think we are.
You think it's adult to swear?
Interesting.
Not that I don't work blue myself, but I certainly don't see it as a mark of being an adult. More the opposite, in fact.

You got it backwards, swearing doesn't make you an adult, but an adult doesn't need to be treated like a child and protected from "Bad Words".----Can I say "bad words" on here, or will it come out; Buddha Loves You?

Don't swear as much as I used to. Have a 3 year old. He repeats EVERYTHING...
Anything in moderation is acceptable IMHO. "The 7 words you cannot say on TV" may be a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words
Jester, I hope that when and if you discuss the life/death of Mr Clark in front of him that you will alter the mans first name to either Richard or the always acceptable "Duck".
If only George Carlin or Lenny Bruce could see us now.
This thread is hilarious to me... I recently received a week-long vacation from another forum for using a word that means "miserly" but bears a surface resemblance to a certain slur. granted, i was poking the bear with a stick... but getting worked up over "bad words" is a waste of time.
Rox, it's supposed to be hilarious, it's fun spoofing the prudes that be.
I think you mean that now felonious word Nigg-ardly, the one that has nothing whatever to do with race, but like you said Cheap a-ss ness.

The issue with filters on message boards (and I work in the IT Industry) is that they are typically all or nothing. No interpretation. So, Mr. Clark's first name is also a slang term. Not much you can do with that unfortunately. I will call Mr. Clark "D!ck" if he prefers that name.
The debate continues... :)
The filter and what it gets translated to us under the control of the web master. It is not automatic by the service provider. So our web master can change it if he chooses to.
He said "boobies" Um maaa.... :icon_mrgreen:

I admin a car forum... and it's fun sometimes to mess with the filters.
for a while, we were getting a bunch of spammers who signed up with legit IP and E-mail addresses, but they'd always end up trying to direct traffic to some crap chinese auto-electronics website. and they were subtle enough that the users wouldn't always catch on that it was spam and report the posts so they could be removed. so, I enlisted the help of the filters.
they were linking to 12vcity dot com. so I set the filter to replace 12vcity with [/img]I am a chinese spammer. report this post/user
so any links and pics stopped working, and you ended up with big red text telling the users to report them.
Swearing in moderation is a good thing, it can enhance a story etc, and as we all know: never let tge swearing get in the way of a good story, or the truth.
How is swearing a good thing? While I do on occasion swear that is the old me creeping in (esp if I hurt something or drop it). I've also noticed since I've cut it way down I tend to stop listening when something is inundated with swear words. I once had a professor tell us that "cussing is showing your lack of intelligence" and when I made it a point to stop cussing I did find it challenging to get my point across without using what other folks would consider offensive.
I've also found that when arguing a point you can get more people to agree with you when you speak in a respectful and appropriate manner. Just my humble opinion.

Well dropping the f bomb occasionally is ok
I swear very little and I never ever use the Lord's name in vain but I also find it annoying when posting if I say gravity can be a bit-ch, or did you hear that Di-ck Clark died----and it comes out "Buddha Loves You" and "Duck".

i kinda take partial fault, for Buddha Loves You. a certain mod and myself were bsin, and this mod was working on the filters. this mod says what about b¡tch? i was thinking well, how bout buddha loves you. but thank GOD for alt key codes Eh?
Oh, so you're the culprit on that one, pretty silly but not the end of the world.
meh I think it give the forum flavor.
Reading duck Clark a few times and son of a Buddha Loves You a few times confuses the n00bs, but it's fun once you catch on.
plus b¡tch works great in the 3 word game. because if the last set leaves it open , like and she said.. i type in b¡tch, so it goes, " and she said Buddha Loves You"

while in that conversation, i suggested, that one word, gets filtered to another. the filtered word goes back to the first. which goes back to the second. etc. like say hteword one. got filtered to two. two got filtered to one. etc see? mod was chuckling. i said, waitaminute, prolly better not. i crashed the phones at the shop liek that once. i forwarded line 2 to line one. and line one to line 2. shaZam! went nuts
I can't tell you how many GStwin trades have gone wrong for me because of paypal confusion. My email address has my last name in it, which happens to be Dîckson. So, guy buying my shaZam! send money to a mr Duckson instead. Always takes awhile to figure out why he thinks he paid and I'm like noooooo stop trying to screw me over. Would be nice if the filters were removed for PM's

now THAT is true. or at least anythign as part of a web addy or email addy be exempt
LOL, they probably don't even realized that niggardly was around long before the... other word. At least you didn't use the other form of jury-rigged.
That's right, I forgot about that one----or the other name for Brazil nuts.
HAHA, I was at a college once that I was thinking of going too and this black guy giving us a tour told us about the time he went over to his white girlfriends house and they were eating brazil nuts. Her dad called them... well, you get the drift.
Wow, that one could have ended very badly.
