Okay so in this 99 500e i bought there is a k&n filter. After doing some reading i learned that it is advised to use the restrictor on this unless i rejet.
What does the restrictor look like so i can check if its there?
What is the most basic rejetting i can do for this to stop it from running too lean and the cost involved?
Thanks
It is a plastic ring that fits over the mouth of the filter, effectively reducing the inlet diameter.
Search the wiki or pm Buddha. He is very knowledgeable about that.
I had this setup, but had the newer carb. 40 pilot jet and the wiki or Buddha will help with mains.
The wiki calls for 127.5 mains. Jets will run you around 2-5 dollars a piece depending on where you go. You can get cheap #4 washers for a few cents. I just did my first rejet, and it was easier than I thought it would be. Just make sure to be gentle with the floats. I didn't even have to take mine off when I rejetted.

Mine definately is not closed off. I can see the inside of the filter from the top. And bike is running stock carbs. No wonder it is super lean... Ok so where can i get a restrictor cap? Or can i just close that top portion off any other way?
I have a restricter ring for the k&n filter. PM me if interested.
