For those who don't know, there is a handy code that you can put on your image code here to size them down. It sizes the photo, but then allows it to be clicked on to scale it back up to original size. Here is how you do it.
Note: real code will not have spaces before and after the brackets.
[ img width=400 ]...link to your photo here...[ /img ]
This is really convenient. No more resizing in another program, and everyone can see the photo in full glory if they click.

I recommend using imgur. It's drag and drop, free, and it also means less storage/bandwidth usage for gstwins.
I prefer to use imgur also with this resizing tip. That way the full res version of the image is linked but the image is reduced unless the person clicks on it.
Also, for my tastes, using imgur on my phone it takes too many precise touches in order to get the proper link for the size I would want.

Use http://postimages.org (http://postimages.org) for free no account needed and they won't take it down. Plus they have all the shortcodes already formatted for you.
If you have onedrive you can generate embed codes on pictures stored there and copy the url into img tags.
Open onedrive in a browser.
Find Picture
Find the Embed button at the top
Click 'Generate HTML' on the right.
Choose a size
Copy the link
Use in post
Not sure what happens if you delete the picture - maybe it breaks the link, maybe it doesn't.

Yep, all very well, but there's nothing as good as properly OPTIMISING your images before placing them. It's all about the pic being fit for purpose.
The resolution (therefore image size) that your camera puts out can be 100, or 1000 even 10000 times more than you actually need on websites.
Get it down... you'll rarely need more than 1000 pixels in the longest dimension, At only 72 pixels per inch. Anything more is a waste of resources.
There are optimising apps freely available. PSD users will be laughing!

Or you can use https://postimages.org where it is completely free, you do not need to make an account and they last forever but you have a choice in that. Plus it will automatically optimise and resize in a variety of sizes you can choose. No need for any other tools. It gives you the code for linked thumbnails, which is what I'm using here. Or you can get the direct image code and put it between the img tags.

On a Mac, Preview has a sizing selection in the menu. Look at your picture, then Tools/Adjust size. Save and upload from the post from your desktop.
I have been having some issues with uploading pics to my build thread. For some reason, doesn't matter how small I make my images, the system keeps telling me they are to large. Anyone have some advice?
You have to host your images on a different site (like imgur for example) and then link them here. The forum's storage is full and it has been for a while now, unfortunately.
