Title: 2 or 1 ?
Post by: Youpek on December 11, 2003, 01:36:41 PM
Hello, I've got a question. Recently I've bought Suzuki GS 500 and I don't know if the engine works properly. I mean if carburettors are poperly regulated. I noticed that in my Suzi, up to about 2500rpm, works only one cylinder. Only just after passing 2500rpm the second cylinder starts working. This unfortunate cylinder is the left one. I tryed to check it by removing the air filter whit it's casing and blocking by my palm the air inlet to the carburettor. In the left carbureetor the pressure was lower than in the right one. So up to this 2500rpm the cylinder didn't get the fuel. And I tryed to find the solution... why it doesn't get it?. I supposed that it may be a broken piston collar. But after removing carburettors I checked again the pressure that is made by the piston directly on the cylinder. And in the left cylinder the pressure was the same as in the right one. So the pressure drop appeared IN the left carburettor. And my question is if it's the wrong regulation or broken carburettor or maybe it's OK i it's normal that engine which works without any load doesn't need so much power and saves fuel in this way. I'm waiting for any response. Thanks.

OK Vacuum cap missing or line is ripped or intake leak in left manifold.
Cool.

Hi,

Yeah might be the vacumm connector on the left carb. Check that the tube running to the fuel selector petcock to the inside of the left carb is connected and intact.
Could also be a bad intake boot.

good luck!

fouled plug, (caused by exhaust leak?)? :dunno: is what mine did.
