So my steering used to lock. I was in a particularly nasty wreck about a year ago, and the steering lock stopped working. I can turn the key to the left, but the steering won't lock no matter how hard I try. Now my question is, do you guys think this is a problem with my ignition or with my tripples or possibly something else?
Thanks, Graham
To determine where the problem is, remove the top triple and try the key.
If it locks correctly, it is the alignment with the square hole in the steering stem.
Check for damage to the hole.
If key won't lock, check where the plunger comes out. Is there damage there?
Might be best to replace the lock if that has a problem. I have sets of top triple with key, matching gas cap and probably the seat lock (though that is real simple for a lock smith to re-key as it uses only 4 front positions of the key)
I already bought a set, but out of curiosity, how much would you have charged me for that stuff, shipped to 70118 (new orleans)

If you give me karma korn (or mail a bag without peanuts) probably $50 for set of all 3, but seat maybe not depending on your year, but a seat lock is simple to rekey. What's under the seat to steal? You could just leave 1 or 2 wafers that make it work and leave out the other two. Filing wafers works, too (the Red Green way). (Ooooh - idea for a video: re-keying a seat lock!). I should have sets for E and F right now.

Ok. If you want a set, PM me your details (and E or F tail plastics) and I can send out Friday when back in town.

Thanks but i'm going to cut the tail over the winter, so i won't need that one, and i don't leave it outside very much for someone to mess with the gas.
