Title: cooperative chart of sport bikes
Post by: Phil B on April 24, 2012, 04:37:38 PM
Hiya guys,

I've been looking up info about current motorcycles. but...
I'm getting tired of looking up this stuff and then losing it again. So I thought I'd make it a cooperative activity :)
The main problem is that there is no place I've found, that has stats across all manufacturers.

To that end, I've created
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Anh150B1k3VKdE5vT2pZUDFxUE91UU45X2lmTkJGdlE

This is an online spreadsheet of "sport" bikes, for 2012, with fields that I care about.

Anyone with this link, can look and it, and for now, EDIT IT, to add values.
When it gets full, I'll make it read-only, and then it can be a resource in perpetuity.

I encourage and request anyone to add in their own favourite picks, with only the following caviates:

1. has to be a sportbike. With at least mini front fairing. no cruisers, naked, etc, etc.
2. has to be under 470 lbs

Please dont add in extra columns. (for now, anyway). I'd like it to remain readable.

You're welcome to make your own copy in google docs and extended it later if you like, though.

FYI, I added in a column for 0-60 times, for grins. And was surprised by one bike in particular.

the FZ6R, is a 'detuned' R6 engine, so they say. but it's only .2 sec slower 0-60. yet gets great gas milage? !
If I were to run out and buy a new bike today, it would probably be the FZ6R. The only thing bothering me is the weight. The heaviest of the lot. I'd be in trouble if I ever dropped it! :-} Plus wondering how it handles because of that.

The other, negative, surprise, is the kawa versasys. 0-6 in **4.8** ??  There havent been many tests on it, but the only one I found, says it was a problem to do better, because it kept wanting to wheelie. Lol?

FZ6R ... you know what the R stands for ... rust ... yup, you're paying a premium for a bike that can rust ... over one that cant like the R6.
Cool.
Buddha.
