For those who have reattached their rotor magnets, what epoxy did you use? I tried JB Weld but it didn't hold very well.
Took the entire motor apart to only realize the starter was spinning the wrong direction and my starter clutch with fine the whole time. D'oh!
I thought that starter was spinning weird when i took it off. Didn't have a way to check it as the engine was locked up..
I don't believe its a good idea to epoxy the magnets back on, but others may have more knowledge on the subject.
I have a rotor from that 06 engine, would let it go for next to nothing if you needed.

Never had a problem with GS500 goats but my old CM400A had same design and same problem and the magnets started falling off and locking up the engine. Lost 2-3 magnets one at a time with lockups each time so I decided to remove them all so I could use the bike by keeping battery charged until I got a replacement rotor. Unlike the GS the rotor magnets on the CM400 also trigered the ignition. Had to push bike back to my garage down the street after removing magnets and wait for the replacement rotor. :icon_lol:
There are plenty of high strength adhesives on the industrial market aimed that will easily stick the magnets to the steel flywheel. The problem is the surfaces have to be almost surgically clean for them to work but the magnets and the flywheel have spent years covered in oil. Upshot is they have now become impregnated with the stuff and this will drastically reduce the effectiveness of any `glue`
Try something like this if you can get hold of it and are prepared to stump up the cash!.

Get the surfaces prepped and clean enough and it might work :dunno_black:.......... but if it was my call I would be looking for a replacement flywheel.
