Title: Ignition advancing pregunta
Post by: gsatterw on May 04, 2012, 02:14:59 PM
So I just bought a 5* modified ignition advancer. Not the plate, but something similar to a v&h ignition advancer. So ive got an 02, and for some reason all of them have only a 5* stock advancement. So when I slip this modified one in will my advance go to 10*? I want to get the full 17*, do I need to get a new ignition plate from an earlier model?

so I should probably do the timing advance mod, then use the 5* advancer to avoid complication probably.

As far as I know, there is only one pickup assembly for all model bikes. The rotor is what determines the advance amount - some are available as a 5 degree advance, others as a 10 degree advance. So, if the 5 degree advancer you have might give you 15 degrees total, or 10 degrees total, depending on what we're basing '5 degrees advance' on.

vance and hines used to make an igntion advacer that was a pick up assembly with a notch that somehow advances it 5*. The one i got is a stock one with the notch cut out to make it function like the v&h one
