I saw this ad on craigslist yesterday.

After going and checking the bike out I could not find any faults with it. It is in mint shape. So after some back and forth I got the bike for less than $1500. Now I don't know whether I should sell my GS andkeep the SV, or sell the SV and keep the GS. The GS is my first bike and I just cannot imagine parting with her. I guess a week or two on the SV will help me make my decision.
Your thoughts...
Ill post some more pics up tomorrow its getting dark out.
track bike ;)
You'll probably sell your GS sv is a pretty good bike you hear nothing but good things about it.
Sell sell sell
It is going to be a tough choice. I got a great deal on the SV and I could sell the GS for more than what I paid for it. I sold an 04 GS500F for 1850 a few months ago and my bike is much cleaner than that one. I am not sure what to ask for my bike if I do decide to sell her.
Nice looking SV!!!! GREAT DEAL!!!!
Now I feel cheated...I paid $2300 for my 02 "S" with a bad battery...ffffffff...
Great deal man. I'd have been extremely wary of something that cheap but it looks like you got a great deal!

Yeah, but you Look for things to be wrong with it so you can whine about it instead of riding the damn thing :flipoff:
Good find there!

Usually bikes that look "too good to be true"...usually are just that. Around Atlanta, everything is in the 2500+ buck range. An SV650 for $1800 would scream either scam or stolen. :(
Great! got the itch to see what the normal asking price was.. seems most are ~$2500, but there are a pretty heavy handful of $1800's(usually higher mileage tho) kept searching and now i think i've found my next parts bike haha. just got to finish off the drz!
good luck on this one, and let us know how it goes!
I was looking for an SV as a first bike for a long time before finding the GS. Here in NoVA they seem to be incredibly overpriced.
Very nice bike. To bad we up here dont ever get the deals you guys do down there.

The bike feels like it is much top heavier than the GS.
I also believe that windscreen will be coming off.

Wasn't going to say it but since you did I will agree  Otherwise a nice looking bike :thumb: This thread motivated me to dig my SV out of the garage. Neglect led to a dead battery but a trip to Walmart and it fired right up. Still not a huge SV fan but they are a decent all around bike like a GS.

if you still got the first dollar you earnt keep the gs

Me too that wind shield needs to go, other than that wouldn't mind getting one.
Very nice find, congrats!!!
Spend some time on the SV, then decide. By any objective measure the SV is a better bike, but motorcycle ownership is anything but rational. Keep the bike that gives you a bigger smile when you ride it. :)

thats an absurd price. you lucked out man, good find!
I really did luck out on this one. This was the first reply I got from the seller:
I purchased bike new in 2000. The bike has been mainly keep inside, approximately 3 – 4 months it was keep outside. The carburetors were just cleaned and a new battery was installed. The tires are pretty much new, have approximately 300 – 500 miles on them. Unfortunately, I don't ride the bike anymore. I have attached some more pictures.
I knew the bike was going to be a good deal but I wanted to get it for a cheap as possible. After being on her a few times I do enjoy how refined the bike feels compared to the GS. I think I am going to be listing the GS soon

x4.
Nice ride!
So, you've decided to sell the GS I suppose?

v-twins just have better power delivery IMO
TJ
Argh! Power delivery is determined by the bore, stroke, and valves, not parallel vs. V. See the 650r vs. the SV650 dynos.
Lol, still has the same gigantic signals.
