Title: MotoGP
Post by: fraze11 on May 21, 2012, 01:11:43 PM
Sad to hear that Casey Stoner is retiring, he's the reason I started watching MotoGP last year.  He seems like a real stand up, humble guy, not fixated on the glam and stardom.  Based on the interviews I've seen/read it seems he's tired of the all the off track BS/corporate BS.  Too bad, he's a great rider.  I wonder if he'll be involved in racing (2 or 4 wheel) at all?

He seemed like a pompous ass to me, the majority of the time.  Still, a great rider, and this is one of the best battles of all time:

Why wouldn't he be a pompous ass. I would be the same way if I was treated as he was while at Ducati and he fell ill. He was written off and in one of his latest interviews it is then it became apparent to him that the Moto GP was not the community he thought it was but realized it was a business that is there to do one thing, make money. There is always more to it than it seems. To many people assume.

Sounds like had enough. Travel. Politics. Money.

Would you do something you didn't like if you no longer had to ? I'm sure Stoner can afford to live the Life of Riley the remainder of his life if he wants.

Did he just fall off a turnip truck?  It took him how many years to realize that top level racing is about making money?  And he wants to condemn that, when the attitude he's been putting forth for years is that he's in it for personal aggrandizement?

Eh.  MotoGP is boring as hell anyways.  Give me World Superbike or AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike any day of the week and twice on Sundays please.
