Title: hard downshifting
Post by: bibik on December 14, 2003, 05:23:04 PM
i have problems with down shifting.Upshift is always O.K. exept the clunk of the first gear but i think all motorcycles does that.Downshifting is hard most of the times. I am trying to bliping the throttle to manage the different speeds of the shafts .Sometimes it works .When it fails i hear a loud clunk but always goes to the smallest gear.Do you think i have a problem and need to check drum or forks?I check clutch and disngage properly.

oil level ok? GS is pretty sensitive about that, when mine is low on oil I notice right away. Shifting doesn't go very good.

Make sure your chain is properly adjusted and well-lubed too. Might just be my imagination, but mine seems to shift alot better when it is.

try slowing down alittle more before down shifting.
