Well, after not owning a motorcycle for two years I was offered a sweet deal on a 2005 GS500f that was too good to pass up. My wife's friend bought the bike three years ago from the original owner but never rode it. She only put 300 miles on it in three years. Needless to say, it's been a little neglected and is running a little rough.
I changed the oil and spark plugs and also dumped some fuel system cleaner in to the gas in hopes of not having to clean the carburetors. It has started to run a little better as it would not idle without the choke on when I first bought it. The rear tire has some pretty good weather checking and needs to be replaced. Also, high on the list of work to be done is to replace the fork springs (I don't understand why Suzuki would spring this bike so softly).
The bike has been dropped on both sides but there isn't too much damage to show for it. The handlebars are tweaked a little bit, but I have already picked up a set of superbike bars that I still need to install, and the plastics a bit scratched on one side. I also placed an order for new adjustable levers that have yet to arrive.
All in all I think that $1600 was a good deal.
