Hey guys. I'm thinking about selling the trusty GS but not sure what's a good starting point without being too high to keep people away or too low. Also wondering a good price so I don't let it go too cheap. Here are the details, I'll give more to you guys than I would list on an add.
2002 GS500e black and silver. 17k miles. Third owner. Purchased 2 years ago for $1700.
The good....
Always done oil changes, chain lubed and basic maintenance at regular intervals.
Tires in good shape.
Rear carbon fiber tire hugger.
Progressive springs
Front fork brace
It's runs well and I would say is in good overall shape.
Miscellaneous stuff like better grips, bar end mirrors, black levers, black headlight bucket. I have so,e spare parts and originals to throw in.
The bad.....
Small dent on left side of tank on the U is Suzuki. Barely noticeable from a driveway spill, only time the bike was down.
Minor tank scratches, none very deep or long.
Scuffed front fender with some scratches.
One minor accident, hit from behind while stopped and pushed into the car in front scratching the fender and breaking the headlight. Headlight replaced. No other damage as checked my a mechanics (forks not bent, etc)
The front brake lever sticks a little but not bad.
It could probably use a valve check too.
So that's as much as I can say. Any ideas? I was thinking to list it around $1400-1500.
You can usually do better if you return some parts to stock and part out the upgrades. Buyers like things stock usually.
(That said, I can take the rear hugger and brace off your hands :))
I would say that's true for major upgrades but these are just little cosmetic things.
I don't think the average buyer would even notice the mods that are listed. This time of year I would ask $1,800 and let a potential buyer talk me down to $1,500. The value would drop as the riding season progresses.

Thanks, oh the horn is broken.... I feel bad about that as ive tried to fix it unsuccessfully. The horn itself works but i think its the button. I know that will drop it down a little.
On the same note, if anyone in the NJ area may be interested consider it for sale.
I also have a front SS brake line and rear katana 600 shock for sale if i dont just give them away with the bike.
