Title: WTB: Set of Black clutch and Brake levers for GS500F
Post by: KC0514 on June 07, 2012, 04:03:55 AM

Looking for a set of black clutch and brake levers for a 2005 GS500F. I figured I'd try here before hitting up Ebay.

Thanks,
Mark

Watch the video on clutch levers.
You need to:
1. Order 1997+  clutch levers
2. If 1989-1996 you might have to bore the cavity for the switch a little deeper.

My video shows why:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-yM57FL99U&list=UUfopOgFUP9aRZNHRZ8GAXeg&index=5&feature=plcp

All brake levers are compatible. 1989 was black adjustable then went silver adjustable.
Somewhere around 2004 they went non-adjustable, but you can interchange any of them. They fit the same.

I already scooped up a pair of the "carbon  look" levers. Just waiting for them to come in.

Thanks for the link Adidas, great "how to" with info that I needed to know.

Remember to check the depth of the slot in the clutch lever for the switch. Levers for 89-96 may not have the slot deep enough.

You can drill that slot all the way through. That makes it easier to file it smooth and square. grease it so the switch tab doesn't wear out.
