Title: Trouble with universal turn signal relay
Post by: MVent03 on June 16, 2012, 02:30:47 PM
So I managed to fry my relay the other day. Bought this universal replacement at Autozone.

Turn signals are fine at idle but when I turn them on and the engine is running above 3000rpm or so, the signals just flicker.

Its like the increased voltage causes the signal to pulse too fast.

We just took that out of a guy's bike in the Bike Cave for the same reason. Someone ( the PO ) put in the wrong one - maybe for some custom POS turn signals. They were removed and replaced with OEM stock signals. We put in a stock flasher and all was fixed.

^^ Agree with Adidas.  I had one like that (Tridon) that worked once for about a month on another bike I had.

Threw it out and got an OEM one back in.  Worked like a champ.

Yeah it's just that the Direct replacement ones were $20.

I cant find any electronic flasher thats a two prong at the local auto shops though.

An electronic flasher should fix the problem right? From what I understand they should flash at a set rate no matter what.

Got it at Pep-Boys, $9.99.

Works great. No flicker when I rev the bike.
