Title: Safe way to remove left side emblem.
Post by: adidasguy on June 19, 2012, 03:18:34 PM
Yep - I want to remove the left side SUZUKI emblem. and put on the billet one from chuck81.

Why am I asking? Well, if I can safely remove it then someone that needs the emblem for the right or left side can have a good emblem has one available.

I'm guessing a heat gun to soften the glue then slowly and carefully work around it until it comes off?

We know it's made out of aluminum (or similar softer metal). I would try a heat gun, but instead of prying up the edges and warping it, try twisting it to break the bond with the glue. Is it possible to heat it from the inside of the stator cover?

I've been thinking about this too because I put my new one on a little crooked :(.

What about a heat gun and then a strong suction cup? Like the type used to pull dents out of car bodies.

I'll get to work on it.

"Inside the stator cover"? I don't think I'll remove the oil, stator cover, new gasket, put oil back in just for a $14 emblem.  :flipoff:

Hey - I'm trying to be nice here! You know - as a good, GODLY parts whore (how did I become a motorcycle god?) try to save the emblem for a needy soul.  :icon_mrgreen:
