Title: Replacement sidestand?
Post by: speedfreek on June 23, 2012, 06:48:09 AM
Ok, got my friends '97 back up to speed (after sitting in a garage
for 9 years) and is now titled, inspected and ready to go.

Going isn't the issue though.  I fixed this thing up for my wife to
ride, and she really isn't strong enough to hoist it up on the center
stand every time.

The sidestand, IMO, is poorly thought out.  It's keeps the bike way
too vertical.  Just the slightest nudge or gust of wind and this thing
is over on it's side.

So, guys, any of you out there done any good mods to the stocker
that will make it a bit more reliable?  Or, is there some aftermarket
solution to bolt on and replace the stocker?

Thanks!

Wow! Cods, that is petfect.

However, Adidasguy has found that later years have shorter side stands. Also, my '97 leans way over because of the 150/70 rear tire and stiffer GSXR spring and shock.
