Hey all,
There is a bike local to me that is a 94 gs500 in purple with approximately 10000 miles. The bike was "dropped" by the first owner, so he sold it to his suzuki mechanic (current owner). From what I remember the handlebars, and some instruments had to be replaced. I think the tank is dinged up a bit as well as the frame. I was wondering if $1300 u.s. is a fair price for it or not?
Also, any things that I should be sure to keep and eye out for when I go look at it? I am a newbie to bikes and the GS500 in particular.
Thanks
Andy
1300 sounds a little steep. I'll bet you can talk him down significantly. Esp. if there is damage to the tank/frame.
How does it run? Got any pics?
... and of course, with a bike that old you need to be looking for general long-term weathering. things like fuel-lines, gas-tank rust, chain condition, etc.
Also, and maybe this is just me, but I've noticed that the header bolts on my '97 are rusting fast... Im not sure if this is common, but they appear to be way ahead of the rest of the bike as far as weathering.
If its being sold at a dealership you might have trouble haggling them down. I picked up a 97 with 7800 miles in really nice condition for 1500, but I bought it from a guy who was desparate to sell that day ;)
Thanks for the help Vtlion,
After further searching and pondering on the subject I have found a bike that I consider a MUCH better buy. Looks like I may be purchasing a 2000 with a little less than 1000 miles on it!!!!
As before, any items that I should look at that could be potential problem areas?
Thanks
Andy
depending on the price of that on it should be a pretty good buy. try and check if the it still is under the warranty. you shouldnt have to check for as many problems with a 2000, unless th owner was real abusive with it. good luck. :thumb:
