hey guys
so here is the story- went for a ride came back, no blinkers are working, even the indicator for the blinkers is not working. checked fuse and is fine.
would like to check the blinker relay but i havent really got any idea about eletronics so dont know where that is :icon_sad:
so can anyone help me with what the problem could be!?!?!?!?!?!?!? please :D
Little black box on right side of the frame, under the rear plastics. They'll have to come off to get to it.

yup.
Easy:
1: get the relay thing: it should be a 2-pin relay type 21W+21W+5W
2: disconnect the relay and place a wire in the connector that shorts the two pins.
3: Turn right your blinkers switch: Both right blinkers and indicator should be lit with no blink. If not: wiring problem.
4: Turn left your blinkers switch: Both left blikers and indicator whould be lit with no blink. If not: wiring problem.
If the above tests worked:
5: Return your switch to neutral position, reinstall relay.
6: Turn right your blinkers switch: Right blinkers always lit: replace relay. Never lit: replace relay. Now it is working: Corroded terminals, need contact cleaner.
7: Turn left your blinkers switch: Left blinkers always lit: replace relay. Never lit: replace relay. Now it is working: Corroded terminals, need contact cleaner.
ok think ive got it now :) so the relay should be the only thing, apart from a wiring fault, that could be the cause to my problem?
so exactly what does the relay do?
Completes an electrical circuit and flashes the lights.
so i did all that and found that it was the relay that was broken, also i found a wiring fault for my back right blinker, looked like the two wires touched and burnt some of the wire coating, could that have cause the relay to break???
Definitely. I was messing with installing some blinkers/running lights in the front. I fried my stock relay by having it running the signals while touching different wires together to ID where they should go.
This is the relay I have now and it works great.

A current gets from the battery to the front blinkers switch.
From there it gets through the wires to the relay.
The relay has a bimetallic part that gets hot when the current passes through it causing to dilate and disconnect the circuit... after 1 secont it gets cold again and the circuit is connected again... it gets hot again in 1 second and disconnects again, click clack... and so till you move the blinkers selector back to the middle.
When the current leaves the relay, it goes through both bulbs to negative.
If a short is present, the relay gets damaged.
If the bulbs are not 21W both, the relay do not work fine (LED bulbs do not work fine)

That's true on a thermal relay but I don't believe ours are thermal. I tried a thermal relay first as a replacement and it would not work correctly. It just flickered and would not "blink" when the RPMs were above 3000ish.

There should be no change with RPM. I think you have something with the regulator, or you are not using 21W bulbs.
Check for a short, or incorrect wattage bulbs first.
All else fails, look on eBay and get an OEM relay. This has been known to fix intermittent issues with Tridon. Some swear by Tridon, some swear at Tridon.
Why go for OEM? I went through 2 of them the first year with Flick. Got one from AutoZone 4 years later still great. Well, let me rephrase that 2 from AutoZone because I accidentally crushed the 1st a few months later. Plus it was less than $5 :dunno_black:

Well I had to get the electronic version that I posted above because the thermal flasher from Tridon I got for about $3, gave me the flickering issues. Even the one I posted was about $10. It's worked perfectly.
i just went to my bike shop and picked one up, although it has slowed the blinking down :/ other than that no problems now :)
hey guys, so i ve just noticed that the blinking quickens when the bike is revved. is this the voltage regulator or what??? help me please :)
My blinker speed varies a little with the electronic flasher relay but not nearly as much as the thermal flasher did. My signals are a little slow at idle but with any amount of gas above that they are a true speed. No increase in speed as the RPMs climb.
