Title: Finally put a motor in my GS- now it won't move!

I picked up a motor a while ago and it sat for a few years with no oil in it.
Got it installed, put some oil in it and it fired right up :woohoo:
Clicked it into first and let the clutch out, nothing! The bike sort of pulls ahead like I'm slipping the clutch but I got the lever fully in. Rev it up with the clutch in and you can feel the clutch release, I Was on a slight incline and it started to roll backwards. Clutch cable is fine and has the proper amount of "free play"
Let it back to idle and you can feel it sort of hook up :dunno_black:
Seems to be like this in all gears. If I have the bike off and click it in gear, I Can push the bike as if it were on neutral.

What do I do to fix this?

pull the clutch to inspect/adjust/replace? .. or have someone do it .. far as i know a burnt out or poorly adjusted clutch will do as you describe .. slight catch to start with then nothin .. the wiki should have lotsa tech and vid instructions on the process...

thats just me though .. or throw yourself on the mercy of adidasguy or one of the other mech gurus (sorry gents i just had a total brain freeze on names) to point you in a more accurate investigation :thumb:

Sounds like your clutch plate is sticking. How long has it had oil in it? Might get better as the oil soaks into the clutch plates.

I took the pressure plate and plates out of the deaded motor that had a functioning clutch and installed it in the new motor. I notice the springs out of the OLD motor were much shorter.
I installed all the plates and pressure plate out of the OLD motor with a known good clutch and in gear it "drags" a bit more but it's still not perfect.

All is fixed! Pulled the 2 rods out of my old motor and installed them. Clutch is fine :buttrock
