Title: GS500E 9/95 Front Brake Pads
Post by: camsGS500E on July 11, 2012, 04:17:25 AM
Hi,
I received some front brake pads for my GS500E 9/1995. My Clymer manual and the XYT website from where I got from said this model had the two piston calipers (1 large and 1 small) but my bike has the two "evenly" sized pistons!! so these pads would not fit. The Clymer manual and most recommendations for a 9/1995 GS500E will recommend the wrong front brake pads.
I don't know if this issue is only from my 9/1995 GS500E or all other 1995 models.
Check this out when ordering to save a head ache like mine.
Now the right pads, yippee!! and my head feels fine now, especially my braking ..............O:)))

You probably have a 96 model bike manufactured in 95.  New models come out in the fall and manufascture of them starts the summer before the model year same as with cars.  Does your frame plate near the steering head say 9 of 1995, if so it's most likely a 96 model.  Does title say 95 or 96?  Also model year can be identified from the bike serial number.

The local place where I get my brake pads lists the left hand pads for the front of the GS500.  The 96 and later GS pads are the same as used on many other Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes with dual front brakea.  I told them about it three times after taking the wrong ones home the first time I got them there but they have never bothered to correct their listing.   :dunno_black:
