Title: Electrical System Help
Post by: akh223 on December 19, 2003, 08:41:23 AM
Hey guys,

I was thinking about some mods I will do if/when I get a gs, and I wanted to get some opinions or information on the amperage capacity of the bike.
Does anyone know how many amps the alternator will produce, and how many the bike needs to run?  I was thinking upgrading the horns, and possibly the lights and brake signal.  Possibly a heated vest and handlebars?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks
Andy

The system is protected by a 20A main fuse.  This is designed to blow before you could do damage to the alternator's windings.  If you don't wind up blowing the fuse regularly I guess you are OK.  Whatever you do, don't be tempted to substitute a bigger fuse.
