got a factory pro carb tuning kit and i installed the main jet and the needle and the bike runs reaaally great except for acceleration off idle... the carbs get flooded up and the bike chokes sputters pretty heavily up until 3-4k rpm. the spec given for the float height is 15mm its just i really dont know how to set the height correctly. the whole height adjustment itself just doesnt seem clear to me. i understand how the floats work just not how to do it :dunno_black: and another question about the mixture screws is when turning them out say for example 3 turns is it 3 half turns? or 3 full turns of the screw?
The only way to be sure the floats are set correctly is to check with the U-tube method.
And that's 3 full turns.
(no offense intended, but how can anyone think that 3 turns is 3 half-turns?)
here is how you set your floats, tip your carburetor upside down with the float bowl off.the highest part of the float to the face of the carb where the float bowl joins is where you measure ,some people refer to this as the gasket face , but it is just the machined surface of the carburetor where the float bowl mates .now measure from the top of the float to this surface with OUT putting any pressure on the float at all.Now if you have to lift the float you bend the little tang at the back of the float where where it sits on the fuel valve,IT IS VERY DELICATE,and a little bend will make a big difference. This will take a little time to get right, and be carefull that you dont knock it during reasembly.i have one of those kits and my instructions said 14mm and works perfectly.
cool i might of got it adjusted cant take it for a ride cause its pouring rain but i double checked them with the tube method and its not above the bowls so im guessing it will be ok :thumb: and no offense taken its just the intructions for the tuning kit said to make HALF adjustments with the mixture screws soo i was starting to double guess that maybe my mixture screws might actually be 6 turns out not 3 :cookoo:
