Title: Petty things that you find annoying.
Post by: ojstinson on July 19, 2012, 09:39:25 AM
Why do people find it necessary to do this.

If you are talking to someone and mention making a phone call, by all means make certain that at the same time you use the accepted phone call gesture, which consists of closing your fist with pinky and thumb extended and held against the side of the head---this is for the benefit of those who can't comprehend the concept of talking on a phone.

When people say....

Not a problem repeatedly

The use of words like wicker, sick, filthy, bad, etc., to mean really good

When people in the USA say "Could care less"... because in the context it is used to makes no sense and the correct term to use is "couldn't care less" as in, I care so little I cannot care any less than I already am. The way the Americans say it, means they could infact care less some more. Fuk people, get it right eh?

When you are standing at a counter (live customer ready so spend money) and the seller dismisses you cause the phone is ringing. You want service, call a business instead of going there in person.

More later...

"Could care less"----Of course means you do care. is a good one, and "at this point in time" ----how about just saying NOW, and "Know what I mean"?  at the end of every sentence-----are they really expecting a yes or no very time they say that? "My Bad" for my mistake, makes you sound like an idiot.

Oh I have a good one - when morons on radio refer to military especially in asian countries - but I also have heard it in reference to other countries - as "Hunta" ... OK morons get a clue ... The word on paper is "Junta" and as it may surprise you J in asian languages is said as J in "Jesus" - In eastern europe its said like a Y and in spanish it is said as a H. Get a clue, it just makes me cringe.

Cool.

I had to read that twice to figure out what you were saying Buddha  :thumb:

How about f-n drivers cutting people off in traffic to get to the red light first.  Dammm I feel murderous when people do that.  Like a giant neon sign over them saying 'im a f***in deutschebag!'

This morning it was f--tard slamming the weights at the gym.  'What are you doing?  Does it make you feel better to crash the weights to the floor and have everyone looking at you as in wtf is wrong with you?!'  Just want to icepick soab in the kidney!

Not only slamming the weights as if to say;  Listen to how much noise these really really heavy weights make when they hit the floor, and you know they must be outrageously heavy because of all the stupid grunting and yelling I do while hoisting them,---I am a big and very powerful man and I want to make damned sure everyone is aware of it.

Mister, don't forget "VIN" ( Veh identification number ) number.

What about people who feel they have to slow down to a crawl or stop to make a right turn ( not at a light ) onto a street or into a parking lot, and the people with big rugged SUVs, Hummers, and pickups, that feel they have to stop and creep ever so slowly over every parking lot speed bump-----Guess what A-ss-h-ole, you could do 50 over Freakin moon craters with that monster.

Thanks cbr, it's fun reading all the little things that p iss people off---so far I agree on every single one.

Here is one that probably only happens to me; I go to the grocery store to pick up a few items, the store could be practically empty, I go down the isle and see only one person but he or she is standing directly in front of the item I want---just standing there looking---not moving. I then go to check out and see a line with only one person with very few items, I jump in only to discover the person has coupons, forgot something, and is paying in change------- I watch helplessly as people I saw at the end of the very long lines now in the parking lot loading up their cars.

This just happened to me last night at the grocery store picking up a bottle of wine... one person in the line I chose, and the 5 people in the other line got out the door before I even got on plate because the guy has to pay with exact change and can't count past 4!

I've got a couple things.........ok, I have a lot, but I won't list them all here.  :D

Old people using the self-checkout lanes at the grocery store or people who take a full cart through the self-checkout lane BY THEMSELVES. If you're going to throw a whole grocery cart full of stuff through the self-checkout, please bring someone with you to bag your shaZam!. Otherwise, go stand in the line with the actual cashier. If you're old & can't use a computer, don't even think about using a self-checkout!  :nono:

People who ride around in cages with their feet up on the dashboard or out the window. I have not only seen passengers, but drivers doing it. It makes me want to cut them off & force them to rearend me, just so the airbags will break their shaZam! off.  :icon_twisted:

I'm sure I'll think of some more later...

Grocery Store: People who pay with a check and can't start writing ANYTHING on it until the cashier is done. Come on - start writing your name and the date WHILE things are being rung up.

People who treat their dog like their child and have to take it EVERYWHERE.

Fat women with a false sense of reality that wear spandex 3 sizes too small to the gym - or on the street. Just because spandex WILL stretch that much doesn't mean anyone ever intended you to do it.

Cagers at stoplights that must stop 1 to 2 car lengths behind the car in front of them.

People on the street supposedly in line for the ATM. They stand 15 feet away on the opposite side of the side walk then get upset because I step behind the person using the ATM. Come on - there's a limit to how far away you stand from the person in front of you before you can't be considered being "in line". One arm length should be the limit of how far you can be away from the person in front of you.

Braille on the drive up ATM. Really?

People who say "Have a good one". One what? I confuse them and ask if I can have two - in case I lose one or I want "one" for a friend. Can I have 2 "OK ones" instead of a "good one". Why can't I have an "excellent one"?

News that reports an important scientific breakthrough that is really very old or plain obvious. Seattle times front page: Doctors discover that giving small doses of egg or peanut to those with an allergy will reduce or cure it over time. Huh? Isn't that basic allergy therapy we've been doing for 100 years?

Products that promote their health benefits and in small  print you see "When combined with a healthy diet and exercise". So diet and exercise are  the important thing - because any  product would be healthier if you ate better and exercised.

Now you did it. You opened up my floodgates...now the things that annoy me are flooding in...GRRRRRR!!

Cagers who can't pull up close enough to the drive up ATM and have to put the car in park, unbuckle the seatbelt, open the door, put a foot on the ground and hang through the open window in order to use the ATM. Seriously?! You couldn't get close enough...now you lose your turn. Pull around and try again--after I get done.

Cagers who save a month's worth of banking and do it at the drive up ATM. They need to deposit 12 checks (which they haven't endorsed yet), verify balances in 7 accounts, transfer funds to 6 different accounts, apply for a loan and refinance their mortgage...and all I want to do is get some cash. The ATM should spit out their card after 2 functions and refuse to accept the same card until after another person has used their card.

People who dress their dogs.
[truestory]
This bothers my wife, who can be rather blunt at times, too. My wife was in the checkout line at the pet store, buying some food or something. The man behind her was holding a little dog wearing a sweater. He was also wearing a sweater in the same pattern/color as the dog. My wife turned to him and said, "What makes you think that's OK?" He sputtered a bit and walked away until after my wife checked out.
[/truestory]

People who go out of their way to be politically correct. So you might offend someone. Unless you're a public official or speaking on behalf of an organization, no one really cares.

Cagers who drive in the fast lane going slower than the speed limit regardless what traffic in the slow lane is doing.

Cagers who drive in the fast lane and are passing someone in the slow lane--and are going exactly 1-2 mph faster than the person in the slow lane.

Cagers who drive slow until you attempt to pass them.

Here's another from the gym.  I'll use the double cable machine and set up both handles to do backarms.  Some dude'll creep up, swap one of the handles, change the weight, do ONE set and walk away.  F-n deutschbag, why bother?!

WOW, I can relate to having to deal with all those annoyances, also hate the way over used expressions;  "It is what it is"---What does that explain that isn't already evident, is that supposed to be the answer to something?, and "24/7". -----I also hate when people tell me to smile.

These words:
* Networking - fortunately this is going out of style
* Green - yea, right.
* Proactive - who the hell invented this word?
* Values - as in "I vote for him because he has values"
* Earnings did not meet expectations - they want you to thing times are bad. Hey - if they expected 200% earnings and got 199% then earnings are less than expected
* profits are down - so? They still make a profit, just a little less than before but STILL A PROFIT
* Poses no significant risk - so.... tell me about the insignificant risks. What is your definition  of significant versus not significant? It is not NO RISK, so tell me more, please. (True! I see this on Mountain High yogurt. They state they don't use hormones. I'm sure the drug companies made them add " Hormones pose no significant risk or health hazard...")
* He didn't break any laws - Sure - but what he did was immoral when he "legally" took half a billion and ruined the lives of thousands. But he didn't do anything "illegal" so he gets off scott free.

When people raise both hands when talking to make "quote" signs with two fingers on each hand.

When a cager does something so dumb it would make a pillar of salt look like it could cavort, you beep your horn and they flip the bird. A sorry would be nice asswipe.

On the highway, someone will pass you in the other lane, move in front of you, then slow down so you either need to slow or go past them WTF?

TV screens in the rear of front seats so kids can watch while the adult is driving. Um... so.... drop the kid at day care, pick up in TV car, get home and plonk kid on front of TV. Hmmm, who is raising this child.... daycare and TV. How about.... no fukking tv in the car and talk to the child, play eye spy games or math games with plate numbers or word games with plate letters?

Mister, the beloved two handed four fingered quote sign is rendered invalid unless you utter the words "Quote -- Unquote" while executing it.---- Oh, and you are also required to wiggle the fingers to simulate it actually being applied to either side of the quote as you speak.

I totally agree with your assessment of the prevailing -- All TV all the time - ( which includes video games ) child parent relationship substitute dilemma in this day and age.

When I took driver's ed in high school, we were instructed to stop at the distance behind another car at which we could see where the rear tires contacted the pavement. I never measured it, but it is a decent sized space cushion.

What grinds my gears is a failure to use turn signals properly. Also when people use improper nomenclature (especially as it relates to firearms).

PICTURE ID's!

Yep - How in the hell does this make anyone or anyplace "secure" (pretend finger quotes) just because you have a piece of paper or plastic with your picture and some printing?

What a bunch of bull and people doing anything to say they did something to "prevent terrorism".
A picture ID does nothing. Do they even compare the picture? Once in 100 - maybe. Do they look up the name on a "terrorism list"? Nope. So what good is it other than a "feel good because we inconvenience you" thing.

I went into a Navy PX in Honolulu and they needed a picture ID. The "guard" checking them never even looked up.

Does it prove anything to have an ID?

You'll see a lot of it now at theaters because we tend to over react to one weirdo.

Hey, TARGET wants a picture ID to buy Nyquil. WTF? Do I look under 40? So I really farkle them over. I will NOT show a driver's license for them to scan - that has all my personal information encoded on it. They capture it all and a hacker then has everything. Instead I give them my passport border card (the card for going to Canada and Mexico in place of a full passport because Washington State gives a drivers license to anyone - illegal or anything). They can't scan  the passport card and it pisses them off. "Will you please get out your driver's license, we can scan that.". NO! It is a valid USA government ID. If you can't scan it, then get a supervisor and type in something for a birth date. Your crappy programmers is not my problem. "Have you contacted corporate about this?" NO! It is not my problem. You tell them.

K.rollin,

A few years ago there was a death from air-rifle - well, it was deemed to be caused by the air rifle Before the autopsy could prove it cause of death.

Backstory: Two guys of the shady persuasion. 11pm at night. They hear a noise outside. One guy grabs his air-rifle and heads outside - could be possums, right, a lot of possums in the area. As he's walking toward the sound (his car) he sees a bloke doing something to his car. He verbally confronts the guys. They guy looks up and starts running. Shady guy gives chase until he has a clear shot and fires at the man, then keeps running. Catches man. Small scuffle ensues. Man dies.

Who was this mysterious man doing something to the car? A plain clothes policeman who did NOT identify himself as such.

Anyway, the story in the newspaper read, "undercover police officer gunned down in a hail of bullets. Fired from an air-rifle with as much power as high powered hunting rifles.

Onward: People who block the supermarket aisles with their trolley then act like you are causing an inconvenience when you push the trolley aside.

One time I was walking with a hand basket up an aisle. Two trolleys next to each other pushed by two different people. I am walking to them and they would be pushed to me. The trolley on the right starts to move so I step to the left to let it by so I can then walk around the left trolley. Woman on left starts to push her trolley. I put my hand out to stop it hitting me, wait for the other trolley to pass, then walk through the gap. The left trolley woman's male companion says... so, we have to give way to you do we? I barked back, "I stopped your trolley cause you were pushing it into me" and kept walking as he started to mouth off something else. For fuk sake, it's a trolley dude, get the fuk over yourself you agro causing prick.

To me the most annoying thing is:
when the idiot in the car cuts me off or makes an (illegal) U-Turn just in front of me, and after I survive the skidding, braking, warpspeed-downshifting, and avoid most certain crash and everything else, I speed up, catch up with him/her, and honk to them cursing out loud underneath my helmet, they just look directly in front of them.

No speeding, no swerving anymore, just both hands on wheel, and staring miles ahead.
I call it Driving Miss Daisy sindrome.

Like there's a brick wall between us.
Sure they know I'm there, sure they know I'm (to say the least) pissed off by their stupid mistake or overall driving incompetence, but they must be thinking if not making eye contact, I'll just dissappear.

At that very moment, I could murder someone!!!
I mean, wtf! You just almost killed me, and don't even have the decency to look at me?...
And THAT just instantly makes my blood boil...
I don't care anymore what they did moments ago, but that ignoring part is....

God...

However, if "at that point in time" (hahaha) I raise my boot aiming for their side mirror, voila! they miraculosly become aware of me, and start making peace and "haven't seen you" signs, shrugging and stuff.
f%$king idiots.

If that's not annoying, I don't know what is.

Sent from my toilet seat using HTC FartPhone (sorry, no spell-checker there)

German automotive design. I've been doing the maintenance on my girlfriend's '99 VW Beetle, and it's like they have zero concept of Design for Serviceability. Let's use steel spark plug boots that tear up people's hands when they try to remove them. Then, we'll place them between components so they can't be removed by hand, and cover the inboard two with the intake plenum. Oh, and let's place the oil filter in such a manner as to require reaching through various hoses to remove the filter and cause oil to flow all over said hoses, the engine block, and the oil pan. There's other shaZam! that ze Germans did with that car that bug me, but those are what I dealt with today. Don't get me wrong, I like wrenching a lot, but some of this just seems poorly thought out. I guess I expected more from "superior" German Engineering.

Had a boss one time that if I was away from my desk for 5 minutes, he'd come looking for me...including the bathroom.  F-ed up.  Didn't take long to catch on, and I transferred to another group.

Now for my 2 cents:

Gas Station:  I want to pay for my Combos and Dr. Pepper.  I don't want to wait for you to scratch off your Ohio Lottery tickets only to turn them right back in for more.  You'll eventually lose, but I don't care.

Supermarket:  Your coupon is expired.  Don't argue and demand that the cashier take back EVERY item that is not x% off.  Just study the coupon and make sure it's valid.

Restaurants:  This just happened yesterday.  Don't get irate at the server because your food took too long, or they goofed.  Mistakes happen, and they can AND WILL taint your food with undesirables.

Good Karma:

DO Stop and help people stranded or need help on the side of the road if it's not too precarious of a situation.  This past weekend, I saw a pickup truck on I-71 lose it's load.  Sh!t everywhere on the highway.  I was not in a hurry, and I pulled over in the rain and helped the 2 guys picked up their ENTIRE life's possessions off of the highway and got it loaded back up in 35 minutes.  The guy thanked me profusely, and said that it was the first time that a stranger helped him out.  Think of it this way...what if it was you???

jester, you are indeed a good samaritan and the world needs more like you, but that situation reminded me of something I have no tolerance for-----unsecured loads on vehicles, both liquid and solid. As a Miami police officer for 25 years I can't tell you the number of fatalities and serious injuries I've handled due to things falling or spilling from the back of trucks and open  trailers. Four gruesome motorcycle fatalities come to mind instantly, all happened at night, one guy hit a large jagged piece of metal, one hit a pool of septic tank sludge, one a large window unit air conditioner, and the last hit a pile of cinder blocks that had dropped off and broken. These are ofcourse aside from hundreds of accidents caused by hitting large chunks of tractor trailer tire casings---but that's a whole different matter. The careless people who fail to secure cargo contribute to millions in properly damage and thousands upon thousands of deaths and injuries every year throughout the country,  probably less than 10 percent are ever identified and charged.

True.  Most unsecured loads are not reported, nor does the person even know something happened if something falls off.

Sounds like an idea for a new thread 'things you've seen fall off vehicles or passed lying in the road,...'
Sunday was cruising (in car) and a bait bucket flew out of a boat in front of me.  I missed it but it boinged off the truck's tire behind me and sailed across the freeway.

Had that happen just the other day, some guy in a wheel chair was telling the cashier about his accident and the extent of his injuries, the story continued several minutes beyond the time it took him to pack his stuff and pay.

Standing in line at fast food behind someone who can't decide what they want when they get to the cashier. What were they thinking while waiting  in line. (fellow Canadians will recognize this as a Tim Horton's experience)

the lady... and i use the term advisedly! .. in line right in front of me at KFC in peak hour conditions.. on the phone talking loudly about her 'rat ass bastard' boyfriend ... (I dont really care about her topic but i dont need to hear that voice... which by the way if i had to wake up to every morning i would icepick myself in the ears!)

then its her turn... still talking... cashier asks for order... lady ignores her and continues whining .. cashier asks again.. then politely gestures for the lady to step aside a little and says "i'll get straight to you when your done" ... lady then slaps her hand on counter and tells her agony aunt on the phone she will call her later .. leans way forward over counter and snarls "no.. i want a f....n fillet burger meal and hurry the f..k up junior"

cashier stays cool... and calls the manager .. manager starts to deal with it but lady is now trying to block 3 lines of customers by walking back and forth at the counter .. i sigh and just step to the counter as she is heading to other till.. she spins and tries to shoulder charge me back again.. which as the laws of physics determine that about 60kg cant move 130kg without either a lever or more of a run-up

i dont really want a scuffle or have to deal with making a police report so .....

somehow  :icon_rolleyes: my riding boot (industrial workboot style) is suddenly on her  toes and just pressing enough to make it worthy ..which thankfully pulls her up short a little.... manager is asking her to leave continuously... and she has some kind of further brain snap and turns all nice n polite then starts making an order... manager sighs and nods to cashier .. then the further plan is revealed... everything the ......... lady ....... orders is followed by "and whats on that?" or "no hang on i dont want that ummm"

everyone in line is just staying silent and hoping she will get it done.. 3 or 4 mins later it is done (I've never seen the packers on the back end move so quick!) .. and she leaves ... life resumes and orders are taken .. 2 mins worth of bliss .. then she comes back running from invisible demons by the look of it... the autodoors arent geared for running... smack & crash .. glass everywhere .. she sits on floor starting to bleed and starts yelling that she is gonna take KFC to court

manager rings cops and ambo's .. tells everyone to use side emergency door and complete their orders and leave and that CCTVwill handle the witness/evidence stuff .. offers some vouchers even .. most customers just get their stuff and go .. including me.

i really dont like her!  :nono:

Yep.  And at the ATM/money machine, people try and refinance their loan. Annoying. Not sure why it takes 10 minutes to withdrawal $40.

Cause they....

Check balance with receipt
Look at balance
Decide how much to withdraw
Withdraw money ($40) which spits out receipt
Do Another transaction just to get a balance-only receipt without a withdrawl taking place

Fuk that.... I'll take out multiple hundreds in one hit so I....

- don't need to visit again for a while
- pay cash for everything leaving no electronic transaction back to me - no-ones business what I buy but mine

The now common "People who bought this also bought...".

OK, I just bought a set of clip on bars for a GS500. Rare to ever be for sale. So how is it people who bought that also bought women's sexy lace tops?

How is it that after buying a NOS GS500 fuel tank, other people also bought a honda tank? Duh!

On Amazon, there was/is the new Sony RX100 camera (by the way - it has a crappy manual) - just released. how can there be people selling it USED and BEFORE it was released --- and then the used ad says to pre-order it.  :cookoo:

Could've been someone in this forum or their significant other skewing the "also bought" results, I guess, by using a shared account/computer.

No, no one skewed the stuff.
They have dumb algorithms that base it on key words. The clip-ons had the word "yoke" in the title. The sexy tops also had the word "yoke" in them. They use dumb keywords. also, how could someone also have "bought" something when it is a unique one of a kind item up for auction right now? As in the Honda fuel tank?

Same with the Sony camera. Even before it was released, it had the "...people also bought...." which is impossible since you can't buy it yet.

Its just lame and dumb.

I would fall into the 'my bad' category. As an avid volleyball player I've have always use this phrase to indicate that I have missed a play, out of position or made a mistake and so have other players. I've also heard this in others sports activities. Maybe it is more accepted in this circle or we are just a bunch of idiots.  :D

Handicapped people using handicap stalls with BIG ASS TRUCKS loaded with all kinds of crap in the back. You need a ladder to get in the driver's seat. How handicapped can you be that you can't walk an extra 40 feet but can still climb up into that truck? And then you can handle all that cargo?

Then you get the ones that get out and obviously are NOT handicapped. Then they can go walk miles all around the shopping mall or grocery store.

At the bank drive up: people who can't make out their deposit slip until they are at the drive up. Then they take 5 minutes to put their receipt or cash back into their purse (yes - usually women I see doing this).

People who go in the exit or out of the entrance.

Back in the early 70s when I worked at Sears people would buy lawn mowers, use them all summer then bring them back and say they are not satisfied and want their money back. We once had to repo a refrigerator that the guy stopped paying for almost immediately, months later when we went to pick it up it was on it's side in the front yard, the entire interior smeared with dog crap.

Yeah, but unfortunately, destruction of property is an all-too-often seen result of repo/foreclosure. They figure if they can't have it anymore, they may as well trash it so it's no good to the repo/finance company.

People are Filthy McNasty sometimes. I know a guy who owns a rent-to-own store.  Furniture, TVs, etc.  He said that when the repos come back, there are always bugs and fleas.

EDIT:  In addition to the above, people that do EXCESSIVE name dropping.  We are looking for childcare.  This person meets the qualifications, but has to name EVERYONE on our street that they know.  I didn't grow up there...went to high school 300 miles away.  I swear, I live in Mayberry.  I guess growing up in Chicago-Area caused me to enjoy being anonymous.

people who wonder...
1. is the battery low?
2. What's that clicking sound when I press the starter?
3. Could my voltage regulator be bad?
4. Is my stator bad?

and NEVER EVER think to get out your volt meter (aka VOM, aka multi-meter) and check the voltage at the battery with the bike...
1. Off
2. Idling
3. Revving

and then checking when you turn the bike off and again the next morning to see if the battery is holding a charge.

I wish people though a meter is as important as a screw driver.

people who always talkonthe phone. Standing in line at Trader Joes. Guy walks around between 2 lines talking loudly. "Are you on the phone or in line?" I ask.
"I'm doing both. Its called multi tasking".

I really need a come back for those clueless assholes.

Seattle news todat had stories about how people WALKING with cell phones get into more accidents because the brain can't "multi-task" very well. Duh!

When I was a kid, my mother would tell me about food and ask what I like as we go around the grocery store. Today I see parents on the phone paying no attention to their kids. Poor kid - mother finds the phone more important than him. I feel like walking up and saying "Did you see what your kid just did?" and when they freak out - either walk away or say "Maybe if you gave your child as much attention as you do your phone your chile would be happier". or "Hey, you're on the phone not being a parent. You figure it out".

Speaking of the phone thing, I've seen mothers in store parking lots with cell phone on shoulder talking and struggling mightily trying to get kids and groceries into the car----- what conversation could be that friggin important, how about; I'm loading the car, I'll call you right back.

Okay, you started it! this one is focused on growing up
(hey i'm 18 and about to move out to my own place, i'll admit it, for the next 18 days i'm living with my mom)
My biggest pet peeve growing up was how if stayed home sick i was expected to work around the house, no sleeping, no rest, just mow the lawn (we had half an acre and a small push mower) do the dishes vacuumm the house, sweep, mop, then sweep again, bleach the bathroom etc. I did chores until long after i would have got home from school, i always thought this was ridiculous

and on a side note;
Has anybody noticed this cycle as they grew up?
young - does a few chores
8 does most the chores -parent says you have no job so why does it matter you have the time
14 you do all the chores - parent says get a job and you have a reason to leave the house (you know, not like you have a social life or anything)
17-18 full time job + school + expected to do all the chores you parent is "busy" "working" on facebook (which they deny even though i see the screen) watching you do the chores and expects you to be late for work (and school) so you can clean up after them
18 full time job - working even more hours and still expected to do everything

does this cycle never end?

moral of the story: FaceBook DOES NOT COUNT AS BEING BUSY.

I feel your pain icirag, sounds like my house. I was 7 years older than my brother, for years I mowed the lawn and did all the heavy labor around the house, my brother was always too young and might get hurt. By the time he was old enough to do these things he was into pot and who knows what else and refused to do anything. He  quit school and did nothing but sit around the house with his friends and burn holes in the furniture. My mother wound up reaping what she had sown.

-When a randomer (normally a chav) on the street asks for a cigarette, then looks at me like im a pyscho when i say i dont smoke
-"Innit / Bruv / Blood" - Used by said chavs / complete idiots instead of normal, proper english. Makes them sound less intelligent than a 3yr old.
-When cages brake for no reason on the motorway 'Oh no, im a bit too close to that car, better BRAKE..... oh no, im a bit to far away, better ACCELERATE' - Repeat.. How hard is it to gently lift off the throttle/pedal for a sec and reapply to maintain correct speed&distance? On a good day i never have to touch the brake on a motorway.
-Cages doing 50 in a 60 zone, then go into a 30 zone and continue to do 50
-Anyone not indicating / using mirrors properly - They are there for a reason people!
-Those who drive around a car park for ages trying to find a space just that bit closer to the shop entrance, then spend ages parking
-Getting dirty looks from people when i take up a whole car space for my bike. - If the shop doesnt supply motorcycle parking, then i am entitled to park in any space, GET USED TO IT! (Note- if i see a bike in a space but to one side, i do share the space)
-Those who ask "Arent you cold / wet" or "Dont you know its raining / windy / going to rain / really hot, outside" When they can see ive just got OFF the bike and got inside.. Rain? no i didnt notice it.. explains why im a little damp...  :icon_rolleyes:
-"Motorcycles are dangerous", so's rock climbing, i do that too. Whats your point?
-From my own MOTHER - "You rlooking to buy a car, so you dont need that bike anymore then, going to sell it?" Me: "Erm, NO! Ive said before im keeping the bike" - Happens every few days!!
-Recently happened to me: When you & the girlfriend split up and everyone asks "You ok?" or "Why?" well NO, and none of your business!

^^^Thats why i hardly let people borrow my stuff..

Back on track:

-People who cant answer a simple question with a simple yes / no. I want a quick answer, not a bloody essay!!
-Cages who dont move over a tad to let you overtake, even though they are going 15 UNDER the limit.
-At petrol (Gas) stations, where they take ages authorizing the pump so you can start to fill.
-Ex's who say "lets stay friends" then hardly speak to you, even if you try to talk with them.
-When you txt someone, and need a quick reply, even stating so in the message, and get no reply for HOURS!
-The stupidly high cost of simple, small metal rings that are weight rated
-My parents, go on holiday for a week and fuss around telling me and that, blah blah.. ive lived at uni on my own for over 2 yrs, i think ill be fine for a week!
-The smell coming from bike gear after only a week or so of casual use (or a single  trip in the rain) :( takes ages to wash and dry it all.
-The lack of twisty roads here. Only 3k miles in, and my rear tyre is already getting squared off quite a bit
-How my rear brake lever is too low, but putting it up one notch is too high!
--How my parents never have anything nice in the house to eat.
-"Waterproof" gear which.. isnt, at all.
-"Reserve and collect" services which allow you to go through the whole system, before alerting you that "Reserve and collect is not available at that store"
-Self Service in stores which SHOUTS EVERY INSTRUCTION, and are stupidly slow too! i Thought it was suppose to be the quick option!
-ATM's which are so slow you could make a cuppa before it catches on and asks for your PIN.
-People who feel the need to argue about something they have no knowledge of when your studying the topic at UNI, yet they refuse to be corrected, even when produced with evidence.
-Windows 32bit limiting RAM usage to 2.75gb
-and, today anyway, FACEBOOK.

*sigh* i feel better now

Wow. You're annoyed by simple math? :D  The reason windows 32 bit is limited to 2.75GB RAM is purely due to the limitations of 32bit architecture, not MS trying to screw you over. I can give more explanation if you're interested. The way I see it, though, there's no reason to be annoyed by math. It's wasted effort.

I don't blame you for being annoyed by FB. That's the reason I deactivated my account over a year ago. Why do I care about how drunk you got last night, how perfect your kids are, or where you ate lunch?

I assumed vinny had a 1GB video card or integrated video. That would be enough to drop from 3.2 GB to around 2.75 GB. I agree, 64 bit is the only way to go in a post-XP environment.

Also notable is that windows 7 home premium is limited to 16GB of RAM. You need to step up to Professional to use > 16GB. I would assume windows 8 will have the same type of limitation.

People that ask "trapping" prelude questions instead of asking what they intend right away.

E.g. Are you doing anything on Friday night? This is a trapping question soon to be followed with "Can you look after my kids while I go party?"

When people hit me with these questions I bounce back, "What do you want?" I Hate that game.

I'd be like.... No not doing anything, why?
Can you mind my kids?
Nope. Is that all you wanted to know?

Or....

How much you gonna pay me? Let me see.... night work is Double Time. I'll only charge you $35 an hour base at double time so $70 an hour with a minimum 4 hour fee, so that'll be $280 for me to mind your kids. BUT, if you are later than XX oclock I charge in one hour increments. PLUS bill for food provided. Still interested?

Or....

Why on earth would I want to disturb my night of solitude looking after your kids so you can go have fun?

Im aware of why it limits it, and how to overcome it. (My mistake, its limited to 2.87gb in my case.) A mixture of the 32 windows, the laptop hardware and whatnot.

More petty things: (Yes i get annoyed easily, especially recently - deal with it)

When you are watching a Live New Conference or some such - maybe police are giving a statement, politician, whatever. As soon as it is over they cut back to the talking head in the newroom who then proceeds to tell you what they said. I'm like, "Yeah, I know what he said I just fuking watched it". WTF

E.g. Media Conference from Police: We are looking for a white male and black male to help assist us in our inquires into the armed hold up of the 7/11.

Newsroom 30 seconds later: That was the police conference into the armed hold up of a 7/11. The police spokesman said they are looking for a white male and a black male to help who may be able to help them with their inquiries.

My hatings

Handicap people who have a tag because of a bad back and drive lowered sports cars with rock hard suspension.

People who take prams into crowded expos, especially ones that shouldn't have kids in them and worse they have those two kid wide ones.

People who use prams as some sort of right of way battering ram and get upset when I don't move cause I was standing there long before they decided that they need to be where I was.

When walking along a foot path approaching a group of people. footpath is four people wide they are taking up all the space and none of them want to move to give me space to stay on the foot path.

People that will not ask for help, no matter what. Sometimes its me.

Managers that will not take responsibility for tasks that fall into their areas and do everything in their power to make sure that it will never be their responsibility. What makes it worse is they usually spend more effort fighting you then it would take them to do the task.

Doctors that will not believe you something is wrong with your own body.

People who murder the english language ...

The first one I would rant and rave about is - "Momentairly" - as in we will be with you momentarily - you fools, Momentary = for a moment. In a moment does not have a conjugated synonym.

"Could of" instead of "could have" I told someone I wish I "could off" him. Haven't heard from him since.

OK fine 2.

Cool.

People walking through the shopping center, three or four abreast. Why do these people always walk at dawdle speed?

People who get off an escalator or travelator and just stop to have a look around.

People who try to get on a train while you're still trying to get off. THEN, they give you a dirty look when you barrel past them.

Oldies on Mobility Scooters in shopping centers etc. Don't they realize the more they don't use their legs the less they are able to use their legs?

Sideways and backward baseball cap wearing.

check mister in hte last post wins thread in tf. there was a quote fest going on for a while. so technically no one won cause no one wrote anything. it was all smilies speaking of glasses got these for 16 dollars from coastal ( saved almost a hundred lol)
not quite as dorky as the thick plastic ones shown above
(http://www.coastal.com/imageresources/product/glasses/kam-dhillon-3002-me-L.gif) but it allows me to read the posters across the building ( 45 feet away) and look over top and see close up.
p.s.  whats annoying peoples children ill behaved and breaking wind, im showing a thousand dollar ring to someone and their child ill behaved and farted, i cannot leave ( because of the ring) so im forced to listen to the childs incessant bitching and smell the broken wind after making the sale. i said,( to self) jeez someone farted,  then said an SBD too. if theyre going to fart, at least make it audible like this ( then i let one go) bitchy child laughs and said i can do better, he tries but shits himself lol

The same guy tried to convince me the motor was junk "and all that jazz", but the rest of the bike was complete "and all that jazz". I also hate it when my boss asks when "we" are going to do something work related. Well sir, "I" am going to do that as soon as possible, but if you plan on helping I have an extra set of gloves you can borrow.........

When a person higher up the work pecking order (eg, Supervisors) wants something done. Instead of saying, for example, "would you take out the trash" they say "Do you want to take out the trash." Turning a work instruction into a question which signifies I have a choice and which mentally garners an answer of "No". The result is, the work is carried out but now it is done so begrudgingly.

People who pull out into fast moving dense traffic and seem unable to find the accelerator.

Single Lane Fever Sufferers. That is where they will do significantly faster on dual lane carriage ways where they feel safe but go to a single lane they get scared of the oncoming traffic and drop down to significantly under the speed limit.

Hallelujah Brother! ..  ;)

lack of merging skills is one of my main gripes during morning/afternoon rush hours ...

it should be a bloody refresher course to keep your licence! .. for so many ppl out there! .. and its on both parts of the road!....

the person merging in should know how to spot and evaluate a gap into which they can adjust speed/distance/position input!

the persons that are travelling right next to the merge lane area should be leaving some decent gaps and watching also! not wanting to be part of a freight train or think they are nascar drafting!

every morning... every damn morning i'm driving or riding to work.... the traffic slows to under 40kph for about 3kms on one section of freeway ... it goes past one particular merge lane/on ramp and back to freeway speeds... just because the mouth breathin cretins dont know how to behave around a merge lane! ...

ok i know a lot of people have a lot worse traffic and delays than i do... i'm not claiming i have it the worst ... just sayin the merge thing is possibly one of the primary congestion causes for a lot of freeway and major road situations..

and yes ... i am angelic when it comes to my own merging and leaving a gap or even changing lanes to allow safe merging ... angelic i say!   :D

Exactly! There is one spot on my morning commute where traffic merges into the fast lane (piss poor highway planning, if you ask me). Invariably, the morons entering traffic from that entrance crawl along the merge lane at 35mph (minimum is 45 for expressway), then reach the end of the merge lane before starting to look for an opening in traffic (which is normally cruising at around 65 mph around that curve). Guess what they do? Yup. The sons-of-motherless-goats yank the steering wheel and merge in--at 35 mph without looking--forcing everyone to slam on their brakes to avoid them.

Manuals that after all these years, are still full of inaccuracies.

Fixing Junior I have been reading the Clymer manual to see if it is better than the Haynes. Clymer is poor on putting things back together. But I find interesting:

1. Instructions to put engine in OFF switch position then press start to do compression test. OFF kills everything so start button won't work.
2. Their diagram that shows the OFF switch in series with the start and clutch switches - which is not correct, either.
3. "If the engine refuses to start, check the carburetor overflow hose attached to the fitting at the bottom on the float bowl....."  Didn't know we had any carb overflow things.
4. "...do not use the allen bolt that secures the rotor to the crank shaft..." Never have I seen a GS500 use an allen head bolt for the timing rotor.

*Im currently in one of these arguments.. apparently im "not a safe rider", im "not in control", i "dont value my life", "there must be something wrong with the bike", i "fail to realize that cars need drivers, making them heavier"...i could go on. All because i locked my rear wheel earlier by ACCIDENT when slowing from 70-30. 9kmiles, first time the rear has EVER locked, but this guy thinks he knows every reason etc.  >:(  >:(  >:(

When people go on about things they don't know a blasted thing about.

People who make up stories to sound cool.

When I'm driving a larger vehicle and people try to merge into me because they are blind. Silly Civic, this is a Ram. Just try.

Walmart Checkout lines.

When drivers tap their brakes for no reason, with no traffic, and I'm 3 car lengths behind them.

When a driver in the fast lane is every so slow creeping past the guy in the next lane and you catch up from way way back. The guy is past the slower car but refuses to move over. The gap isn't quite large enough for you to get into. Then the guy taps his brakes cause he thinks you're too close to him. Grr.... if only ramming was legal.

People, earth-muffins and people wanting money that misuse facts and statistics.

5 Hour Energy: Commercial states they asked 3000 doctors if they recommend it. Then they say doctors would recommend a low calorie energy booster and therefore they strongly imply and make you believe the doctors recommended their product.

New PS ad: Cig smoke as 7000 chemicals. Really? What are they? They make you think that is 7000 BAD TOXIC things. Well, it probably has C02, oxygen, nitrogen and  lots of stuff which is normal. What are those 7000 chemicals? (Note: I am not in favor of smoking, just the misuse of statistics or facts to prove a point.) They mention a couple bad things and make you assume all 700 are bad. This is a technique often used by people trying to prove a point. Always ask: What are the 7000? Can you give me a list? How many are bad? OK, yes there are bad things there. Understand the bad logic of inferring that all 7000 are bad. Now watch as others try that same illogical implication.

Well, not so much as annoying but odd.
Pixie, my female gray Pixie Bob loves treats. Especially freeze dried salmon.
Usually I have her shake hand (then "other paw"), or sit up or roll over. if I just giver her treats with no tricks, she waits until I have her do a trick.

Now is that weird?

OK - I'll video that. It is cool having cats do tricks.

In the UK you may gripe about people having to take time to put their car in gear, let off the e-brake, and go... but here they'll just absentmindedly let off the brake and ram into the back of you if you don't pay attention.

People who leave their cars in the middle of backed up intersections, preventing other directions from going

People who leave public bathrooms disgusting
College cafeterias pulling their food 30 minutes before they're even supposed to close.
Getting so much homework (25-30+hrs/wk) I figure out what percentage of the grade it is for each class to decide what to not do.
Dorm rooms with no AC plus no screens in the windows
Moving in to find everything in your dorm room is covered in tobacco spit and the radiator isn't even connected to the wall, and one of the lamp units has exposed wiring which a work order was placed for before school even started and hasn't been touched yet. Oh, and gum everywhere.
Professors who clearly don't have a firm grasp on the English language. But watching them try to say 'parallelogram' is a riot... and then came 'parallelepiped'.
Not having my gs500.

When an electronic that's functioned flawlessly through more time and abuse than anyone could expect of it dies.

hmm that reminds me .. but its not petty .. its F^%*&g disgusting! ... theres a parking garage i use near where i do my business banking .. usually the lift is real slow... so i usually take the stairs ... and every once in a while some evil and dim witted maggot of a drunk fool has thrown up in the stairwell and/or left a huge turd on one of the landings! .. random stairwell and random landing... its one of my major    points!

maybe not just one person.. could be real popular place ... the real annoying bits is that there are public toilets available 24hours that are cleaned regularly ... 300m away .. i know 300m can be a loooooong way if the pressure is on... but still!

just makes me wonder about how society is going sometimes!

Pretty much all of this. There's a riverwalk next to the Mississippi River in my hometown, and the public restrooms are usually kept rather clean (minus the bathroom messages on the stall walls). I go for a walk last time I was in town, and decide to go bleed the lizard. Upon opening the bathroom door, I smelled something that would make a trash truck driver faint. Shoulda been the first sign something was bad. So I hold my breath and charge in, open a stall, and the walls were SLATHERED IN shaZam!. It was everywhere. I mean, how does that happen? Did someone decide it was crayons?

At work, once a week the restroom is closed due to "contamination".  Got the scoop from facilities.  People spray and smear human waste on the walls.

We have people from N America, S America, Europe, and Asia in our office since I work for a global consulting company.

Regardless, that's inexcusable and disgusting.

Oh yea Idiots who use the word - Intrical - WTF is Intrical - intricate + Integral ?

Integral = Its a part of it, cant be removed easy. Or its the result of the mathematical function of "integrating" an expression - as in the integral of x is 1/2 x^2 + c.
Intricate = a rather elaborate and tangled pattern.

Another Idiotic word right up there with that atrocity is the word Centrifical - WTF is that centrifugal + artificial ? Or is it centrifugal + intrical ?

Centrifugal = the outward force experienced due to rotation. What makes your tires get larger in diameter @ high speed - easy to see on drag bikes and cars.

Cool.

I got one right up there with that ... appaently some high schooler I am pretty sure it was a girl cos I think I heard her talking about the experiment ... anyway she took Ice from an ice machine @ a fast food place and water from the toilet (where did she get it from, faucte or flush tank or the bowl itself ? yea its important ... and send it to test and found that the ice had more bacteria - more count of bacteria or more varieties ?

Oh really ... really ...

So you kept it as Ice through that whole ship and test routine @ the lab ? You do know Ice keeps bacteria from multiplying right ? If it turns to warm water the bacteria will multiply - you do know this right ?

And here is the kicker -

You do know that humans are literally covered in bacteria ... you collecting the ice and getting in in your container probably dropped into it a few million of your baceria ... and they once in warm water multiplied ... the bacteria in the toilet obviously were in liquid water and their circumstances didn't change much with the ship and test sequence ...

Cool.

You post a joking comments then some 3rd party decides to go through the joking stuff and get all technical pointing out factual errors (though it was a joke) and dredges up all kinds of pusillanimous stuff for unknown reasons.

Hint: When its a joke - leave it be.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Politicians like Romney who take facts out of context and proclaim that to be the absolute truth. Oh, wait, he's a Mormon. They do that all the time with the bible.never mind - we expect that of him.

Politicians who brag they give 1/10of their income to the church but won't disclose their tax returns because, making millions every year, probably can't justify giving  the church hundreds of thousands of dollars a year so diclosing the tax returns would reveal he is a "sinner" and not giving "tithes" as he proclaims.

---------------------------------------------------------------

People who sip in and out of traffic, from one lane, across multiple lanes, back again, only to finally advance one or two car spaces and gain all of 2 or 3 seconds at highway speeds.

Two items that annoy the crap out of me:
1.) Other people's pets.
2.) Other peoples trees.

I work hard to insure that I am seldom (hopefully never) a burden to anyone else on this great planet.
My property, my vehicles, my kids, my pets, and yes, even my damn trees should never upset you in any way.
Which leads me to this...

1.) Most pet lovers I have dealt with are bung holes.
They invariably seem to be blind to fact that "their" pet (and related excrement) should be on "their" property at all times.
My clean, quiet, well trained dog will eat your stupid pet if it comes over the fence line. You've been warned!
Same goes for your ill behaved, crooked toothed kids. Yeah, my dog eats kids too.

2.) A tree, especially a large tree requires a lot of maintenance to stay healthy. If you are too stupid to understand that statement, I have a beautiful Stihl MS-362 that can be used as a great training aid.
Below is a shot of me helping (cough-cough "training") a neighbor to understand why "he" should rake his own leaves in the Fall.

Yes Sir,
But don't give me the credit. . .
It's the sensitivity training I've received from the Aussies over at Last Poster Wins.

First they introduced me (a Yank) to a wonderful concept called: HTFU mate!
Then they introduced me to a gentleman by the name of Chopper Reid.
I can't thank them enough.  &  :thumb:

Life isn't fair, it's challenging.
So when politicians try and make it fair... That Sir is something I find annoying. It spoils the game at every level.

But is that petty enough to be considered on topic here?  :dunno_black:

Health foods in general. Or non-health foods being made to tell you they're not healthy. I bought a huge bag of pork rinds (salt & vinegar, of course) from a guy at a flea market and he slaps a label on the side telling me how much salt, etc. in them. They're fukking PORK RINDS.  I know they're not healthy. It's fried pig  for fukks sake!!!

Women who pile on so much smelly stuff the stench would overpower the worst smelling fish market (Oh, is that why they do it? LOL)

And if a guy does it - well - that's just not right.

I'll add to that.  Women who go outside to smoke (Can't smoke in public indoor places in OH...state law), and then come inside and use smelly stuff to cover the stench of yesterday's ashtray.

It never works, cause now you smell like yesterday's ashtray in the summer rain in the Idaho alpine meadow.

You still stank woman...just sayin'.

Hear ya Adidas !

I got a observational irrit lately folks .. I reckon it must be due to world wide season changes or something because it's always more noticeable this time of year....

Watching a lot of different forums that interest me on lots of different topics/themes.. The annoyance is (finally! Yeah I know) .. Twats that just have to be that little bit 'righter' (sic) than everyone else. The basic helpful information flow gets poxed up because some wanker has to overfocus on some trivial point and it all degrades into a slinging match. It can't be that hard to acknowledge the varying points of technicality and STILL work them into a feasible solution for the OP.

I've been guilty of it too so don't think I'm claiming pure snow status .. I now 'try to think the new and conflicting info over to self check my own info' .. There are always other options and methods and results that can improve any personal 'knowledge' .. Always!

This ain't aimed at any individual on any thread/topic/forum .. But to the 'knot head ' in everyone :icon_rolleyes:

People who ask for the pitch and thread side of the screw they have in their hand then ask what length they need for some special task.
1. Go hardware store and use their measuring thingy
2. Poke a stick in the hole to see how long it needs to be.
3. Buy the screw. If unsure, get a couple lengths.

I plead guilty. I'm 45 miles from work and it doesn't matter when I leave I get there about 4-7 minutes late every day. We use a hand scanner to clock in and luckily there's a 10min grace period.

Oh MY GOD!!!  I work at The Home Depot and I get this question a couple times a week. They'll come in and show me a picture on their phone of the head of a bolt in some random piece of machinery and say they need "that one".

. . . and I just look at them like are you f%$king serious?

"Yes, as a matter of fact I do have the complete schematics of everything ever built since the dawn of time. Let me just run back and go look that up for you. Would you like me to come put the bolt in for you too?"

We get some pretty stupid questions and requests. . .

in addition to the herbal thing... but not part of the annoyance bit..

i have at home about a dozen 14" pots, each has various herbs that i favour in them... sometimes 1 per pot sometimes 2 or 3 depending on the growing style .. got mint (5 different types), chamomile, lemongrass, lavender, lemon balm, chives, rosemary, nettle, dandelion, milk thistle .... plus various other bits that come and go ...

i've got room for this much.. some will have more... some ppl will only have 2 or 3 smaller pots with multiple plants...

i'm not really a 'hippy' or 'herbalist' in the normal sense .. but when i have a headache, gut ache, feeling poorly or cant sleep etc .. i'll go out and pinch a tiny bit of the various herbs for a sniff .. .if my brain/nose says YEAH MAN! then i pick a bit more and it goes into the bundle... if its a MEH or YUCKO then it doesnt...

the 'nice smelling' ones vary from event to event .. sometimes what i have had in a 'tea' for the last 3 times will suddenly be  :-X ...

point is i do believe that your sense of smell and brain function is more than capable of detecting what it needs each time .. its not gonna get everything just from herbs tho ...

so after i have my bunch of varying herbs... quick rough chop in the kitchen .. stuff it all into my stainless steel mesh 'egg' and dunk it in a small pot of water on the stove ... simmer away 10-15 min maybe ... pour some into a mug/glass .. add a tiny bit of honey or sugar for taste and drink/sip away ... sometimes i've had enough after one or 2 mouthfuls.. sometimes its the whole half litre/pint or so..

it always is a variable mix and volume ... and maybe its just the 'mental' thing of it ..  :dunno_black:

ok so you cant take all the bits with you at work ... but you may be able to take your 'current favourite' mix in a thermos or something..

its a bit odd to some... but apart from the slightly longer 'cooking' time... the pick and chop process only takes about a min or 2 usually .. and if you pottering around at home after a work day it fits in easy enough ..

fresh herb 'brew' for me is so much more effective... i still have various tea bags too (umm 9 different flavours at moment till i stock up again) .. but when the 'bugs' are at it the brew wins everytime  :thumb:

I'm with you Vinny, when I sold my V-Max with 87,000 miles ( it was a jewel and a steal at the price ) on it I had an extensive folder of every servicing and every replacement of any and all parts, the type and brand of lubricants and filters etc-----EVERYTHING! The guy gave me cash and before he left my living room I handed him my beautifully organized and typed service record and explained what it entailed, he glanced down at it, thanked me and then placed it on my coffee table and walked out the door.

Anyone in the Charlottesville, VA area can attest to this. I know I sound like an ass but I'm not above politely holding my horn down until they move out of my way or end up in the ditch. There is a bike lane for a reason. One panicked his way into the ditch so I slowed down enough to make sure he could see the smile on my face.   :flipoff:

LOL sounds like something I'd do.

The problem is that they don't see what they're doing as wrong. Now, don't get me wrong, push bikers have rights on the road as well. If there's not a specified bike lane, they get to share the road, not take it over. There should be a licensing procedure for road bikers...

When there is a product that you buy regularly. Seems to sell well in the store as you can tell, comparing to other products around it on the shelf. Then store decides to stop selling it or manufacturer decides to stop selling it :cookoo:

YES! It has happened twice with my deodorant brands I used to buy. Do they know how hard it is to find a nice smelling one you can put up with everyday and without it feeling like you have sprayed contact cement under your arms.

Deodorant is chemicals and utter trash ... people sweat, get used to it. Now in summer in the south people sweat from everywhere ... just not their pits ... WTH sorta logic is that.

BTW I told this white girl who was eating yogurt if she knew what live cultures meant. She didn't know. I said its bacteria, she said ... ewwww gross and she threw it away. WTF ... I think people are taking being a clean freak to the extreme.
Cool.

- Ads offering to stop your underarm sweat by, oh I don't know, cauterizing the pores closed or something. WTF, we sweat for a reason, live with it, do NOT clog up one of your body's channels of elimination.

- People walking on the street with earbuds in. Why hamper one of your survival senses? Then, you see them step of the footpath to cross a side street without ever checking to see if a car is turning. I've seen so many near misses cause of this it's not funny.

Joggers that like to go the wrong way on bike and rollerblade paths then complain because you, on roller blades, ran into them because they were running on the wrong side the wrong direction. This is America - keep to the right.

Actually, pedestrians should travel against the flow of traffic when a sidewalk is unavailable. See RCW 46.61.250.  :police:

This is correct on a street where the primary mode of transportation is motorized vehicular traffic. Adidas is talking about a pedestrian path for non-motorized modes of transportation (i.e., walking, jogging, running, biking, rollerblading, etc.), often converted from a no longer used former railroad spur, or in a park/nature preserve.

Related to this, my wife & I were on Mackinac Island a couple weeks ago. The unique feature of the Island is that the only motorized vehicles are an ambulance & a fire truck, aside from snowmobiles used by the few year-round residents. All other traffic is bicycle, horse & foot. The main road is considered a state highway (M-185) as it goes around the entire island, but contains no motor vehicles. Horses & push bikes still keep to the right, and I would assume that pedestrians should still walk opposing traffic if there's not a sidewalk--especially considering it's a state highway. Apparently, we were wrong because some lady stopped on her bike to yell at us for walking against traffic. It was all I could do not to knock her ass off her push bike and tell her to MYOB. :bs:

Correctamundo.

The jogging sidewalk next to the regular on along the Alki beach. Jogger runs into me - "WTF? Don't you know joggers like to go against the flow? " And I say"It is America - keep to the right. You are on feet . I am on wheels. You can get out of my way and you are on the wrong side anyway".

Now they have added a strip down the middle with arrows indicating direction: i.e. keep to the right. I hope that helps.

Ah, I missed the path bit.

OT: The air filter being located inside the backbone of the XV535 Virago. That bike only makes it about 80 miles before hitting reserve on account of the small underseat tank, and that super wide backbone makes finding a tank that looks right and has a wide enough tunnel a pain in the hind end. Seriously contemplating buying some DOM tubing and building a custom frame instead.

Better to "keep it real" and just kill the animal without the "I care for animals" mantra. There is more honor in the truth.

On the flip side, vegans who are fanatic in their approach Preaching to people who eat meat about how Cruel the animals is treated before it ends up on the table.

But I have to agree, those that say "this [whatever meat here] had a easy life and was happy to give it up to feed my lazy ass" are every bit as bad as the "this salad is organic, it doesn't matter that it was picked by illegal labor after being doused with water to wash off all the chemicals ". Grappled with this problem a plenty ...
Here was the solution I came up with. Do not cut that frame, too many things hang off it ... Get a savage tank and hammer the inside. I own a savage now, but never owned a virago 535 and savage @ the same time ... but I think its possible to ... if you want to, I'll send you a savage tank I have ... I'm gonna want it back ... trial fit it and you'd know. I actually have a virago 535 tank too ... I'll check if it will fit the savage.
Cool.

4. Management fires a significant portion of the staff.

I spend my work life patching other people's mistakes.
I get laid off and promptly the failures start to occour.
They hire the next monkey to repeat the process.
I go on to be the next monkey in the next group.
Repeat.

I will do exactly as I am told.
The instant I leave I can be hired right back and I will say I know nothing of the particulars of their installation. I will spend the next 3 months learning. If I am laid off in 6 months, too bad, I will repeat this gladly all day every day year over year ...

As soon as the state of texas executes one of these corporations I'll start to care about them ... naaa sorry I dont think even then I will.

In Florida you have to do that with any of the allergy meds with "D" in it or with alcohol. You must use a state or gov't ID so they can track how much you buy so you aren't making a methlab.

People who go in the exit or out of the entrance.

Now Now Addidasguy you know I'm disabled and I could probably get up in one not without pain. But, I can climb a he!! of alot easier than I can walk distances. I would never buy a big pick up but I sure do get alot of dirty looks when I pull up on Flick

In Florida you have to do that with any of the allergy meds with "D" in it or with alcohol. You must use a state or gov't ID so they can track how much you buy so you aren't making a methlab.

In oregon they scan your ID and run it thtough the system to prove you are how old you say you are

People getting pissed off in the cardiologist office when it is 10 minutes past their appointment time. Guess what the cardiologist has this really odd thing called emergencies you know when someone's heart flucks up it's not like he can say make an appointment in a couple of days! They even have a sign in the office saying emergencies happen frequently in this office please plan accordingly or call before you come in. This one d-bag is in with his mother to get the results from a holter and it is 3 minutes past her appointment time. He starts screaming at the receptionist that his time is too important to be waiting and if his mother isn't immediately taken back he would go to a different doctor. I was feeling particularly chitty (arrythmias) and had been waiting to get fit in between patients. I finally walked up to him and said "Sir, I'm the reason your mother's appointment will be later. I'm suffering from an arrythmia that might kill me and I'm sorry that I am the cause of your wasted time". You could have heard a pin drop in the waiting room and all of the bitching stopped instantly.

Come on people it is a doctor's office healthy normal people usually aren't there and complications occur!

Expert engineers sent to help you assemble something, who cannot read drawings and either want to join the wrong pieces together, or put them in back-to-front, or have no idea and ask you even though you are supposed to follow their direction. Sorry, why are we paying you big bucks for again?

Engineers - civil, draining, structural, whatever - they think they are smarter than they are cause they have a piece of paper BUT no hands on real world experience.

Rather than a public annoyance ... Lately I've been hyper busy at work organising interstate loads for the trucks ... Lots and lots of minor things running thru my head at home too ... Its all gotta work like Swiss timing till end of month ... Anyway .. Having my shower a few times this week ( well I shower every day) but my annoyance has occurred a few times this week ...

Get wet, grab washcloth and soap, lather up and wash around .... Rinse off and enjoy the hot water for a few moments ... Something procedural from work pops into the skull .. Distracted ... Wait .. Did I wash yet?... Oh we'll better make sure .. Grab washcloth and soap, lather up and wash around ... Rinse... Another work thought ... Wait ..did I wash everywhere? .. Know I meant to!.. Grab washcloth and soap ....... Usually I call it quits then ..but still slightly uneasy I missed behind my ears or worse ..

C'mon it CAN'T just be be that gets this vague when its busy and hectic! .. Luckily at work I'm full focus and its all smooth!  :icon_rolleyes:

LOL I hate it when that happens. I'm one of those people, too. Heck, I get sidetracked walking from the family room to the kitchen or as soon as I stand up from my desk at work to go to the printer, halfway there, I can't remember what I was after.

Further, I'm such a creature of habit that if I need to remember to take something extra with me in the morning, it has to be right next to my wallet and keys. Otherwise, it's not going to make it out the door with me.

My boss calls it CRS Syndrome - (CRS = Can't Remember shaZam!)

actually Pi is a constant factor used to calculate the circumference using either the diameter or the radius of the circle, or to calculate the area of the circle:

circumference = Pi x D or Pi x 2 x R

area = Pi x R^2  or Pi x (D/2)^2

Where D = Diameter and R = Radius (1/2 of Diameter)

An hour later you go sit on the couch to watch The Brady Bunch and you think "Gee, I never did look up that thing. I'll do it after the Bradys". having had your Marsha fix you head back to the computer to look up said thing. SOmething distracts you and two hours later you log off for the night. In the morning you think "DAMMIT, I still didn't look up that thing." You go to look it up, check the weather instead and head out the door - STILL without finding out what you wanted to before.

Women with smoking hot bodies - from behind or front - but with horror heads. Raised my hopes to smash them down again.

Fat chicks wearing skimpy shorts or short short skirts and half tops, cause those items are In. Just cause it is In doesn't mean you should wear it.

Perfect riding weather all week followed by heavy rain and strong winds on the weekend.

People who ride their brakes or hit the brake pedal constantly without actually slowing down.
People who come to a complete stop at lights with a 2-3 car length gap in front of them. :dunno_black:
Non-muscular people wearing sleeveless shirts to show off their sweet tribal tattoo.
Crocs.
Ironic T-shirts.
People with half a cart full in the express line at the grocery store.
People who don't return their grocery carts to the cart collection thingie.
People that are overzealous about politics.
Walking barefoot on wood decks.
Handshakes where the other person grips obnoxiously hard.
Handshakes where the other person doesn't grip at all.
Skinny jeans.
Baseball caps where people don't bend the bill.
Thats all I can think of at the moment..... :woohoo:

Baseball caps worn sideways

Hoodies worn with the hood on the head - in summer or indoors

People who sit at traffic lights in a daze looking everywhere but at the light which is about to change - then needing to be beeped with the horn cause they still have their foot on the brake two seconds after the light has gone green

People who try to cut in front of you in a line, then make out they didn't see you standing there when you pull them up on it.

Checkout chicks that ask you something to which you answer, then three seconds later they ask again cause they forgot they asked in the first place. I just look at them as they sheepishly realize what they have just done. Then we joke about it and they smile and the ice is broken.

Yes Higgins, or you just removed a small screw or something and it drops down into the body of the bike somewhere and you can't for the life of you manage to locate it, when you hear it drop you are hoping it made it to the floor but it never does. There are things I have dropped down into the bike somewhere that I have never found. It's like when you get something in your eye and it finally goes away---where did it go? Are there storage areas behind your eyes that are filling up with sand, bugs, and lint?

Don't know if this affects anyone else, but it seems like every time I go to Wal-Mart, which is maybe twice a month, I can't get in the door without somebody asking for money or gifts or time. It's girl scouts one day, the fight for Restless Leg Syndrome people, little league something, or any number of charity/sports team/obscure organization. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with supporting these things and give about $1000 a year BUT I hate the shakedown going and coming. I know it's effective to guilt trip people into giving they're money but I don't think it's appropriate to be essentially trapped when buying household necessities. I don't fault the ones doing the fund-raising but Wal-Mart for allowing it to get out of control and making me want to shop a target and pay more for the same item just to avoid wanting to tell a 12 year old to F-off (wanting, not doing) or maybe I'm more of an @$$hole than I think.

Adidas, you forgot the best parts-----"Normally sold for $59.95, now you only pay $12.95, and if you order right away you get an additional item free--plus 4 free refills which are a $20.00 value".

When they first showed the item you're thinking it looked pretty decent, but after all the additional come ons you're thinking---Wow, this really is a worthless piece of crap.

Another petty thing: So I went to a Halloween party this weekend at my buddy's wife's mom's house :dunno_black: Anyways, my buddy told me that "Trent" (buddy's wife's little brother) just got a bike. We went to the garage to see what kind of bike a 18 year old gets (he has no job, smokes pot all day in the basement playing xbox with his brother), and low and behold is a early 2000's stretched and lowered r1 w/ polished frame and swingarm.  :cookoo:

Just call it natural selection.  Yes, sometimes it means they get the 'cool' toys for a little bit, but it is necessary for evolution.    Natural selection will eventually find a way to fix stupid, even if our healthcare system continues keeping them alive.

People who use an endless string of possessives to describe something that could be summed up in 1/2 the word count. This usually leads to people ignoring whatever comes after the endless string of relations because they don't want to bother figuring out the actual relation.

Example: my brother's wife's mother's husband's workshop...the better way to describe this is "my brother's father-in-law's workshop."  :thumb:

You're sitting there working on your bike, you haven't moved from that spot, suddenly something (a part, a tool ) you just had in your hand 5 minutes ago vanishes, you can't find it anywhere---how does that happen---is it just me?

I had that happen to me last time I worked on my bike. I managed to lose my small ratchet with 10mm deep well attached (aka need that to do an oil change!) and couldn't find it. I searched for 2 hours, and 2 of my buddies helped and we couldn't find the thing. I go walk into the garage 3 weeks later and I see it shining in the sun on a shelf above where my spare nuts and bolts are. I checked there 4 times and I sware it wasn't there! Got it safely locked up in the tool box now!

What annoys me? When the most miniscule thing takes your bike off the road for 2 weeks :(

Bah ... #1 I like to ask them details about whatever was bigger and better ... mostly the story suddenly gets real vague  :icon_rolleyes:

#2 They aint 140yo bro .. they are just friggin hopeless! ... sometimes 'doing a job' means they rang up about it cos their job-network provider threatened to cut the dole if they didnt!

#3 hahahahah I get this weekly .. if not multiple times per week ... having been a removalist for 25 years myself.... i reckon sometimes that half the planet 'used to work on the removal truck' ... but ...

in an ironic twist .. my thoughts often leads to "yeah but who is sillier?, you for not having any work/job despite 'having experience' ... or me for sticking with removals for 25 years"

.. and having clicks/pops/grating noises/occasional pain/constant aches in my knees/ankles/shoulders/elbows/wrist (which was the recent surgery) / back/sometimes hips .... its all manageable and usually transient/controllable with some paracetamol/anti inflammatory tablets ...

thats why me and herself are going to a 3 day intensive training workshop this weekend ... looking to start in the 'opportunities to buy a house without banks' line of business .... you know .. when you see those little cardboard signs on a power pole that say "rent to buy/no bank loan/vendor finance..  call 'John Smith' on 1234 5678 ... thats actually part of a legit company and marketing scheme.... so we gonna have a go at making some income streams from organising deals.

I have a cheque book, just to pay the lawn mower guy each month and for other incidental larger payments such as trades people etc, particularly where the vendor wants to hit me up for credit card surcharges.  funny how many people have no idea that normal everyday people can get a cheque book and think only businesses have them.

I've never used a cheque - if I need to pay someone I always know how much it will cost and make a trip down the road to get cash out...

I feel like if I were to hand someone a cheque they'd question the authenticity...don't have that problem with cash!

Receiving cheques sucks too.

I like to think these people are actually motorbike riders that are temporarily misplaced.  They know the enjoyment and want you to make the most of it.  Luckily I encounter these frequent enough to restore my faith.

However there was reports of the snorters doing this to motorcycle riders in New South Wales, then radioing ahead to another vehicle to book them on "estimated" speeding and dangerous driving charges.  Entrapment at its worst.  That's something I find annoying.

They bikers were mostly getting booked for overtaking across double lines. The worst bit is the vehicle would pull out just ahead of the bikes and then travel below the speed limit to encourage the overtaking. Yes it s entrapment but we don't have rules against it here. Some of those caught have the means and the will to fight it in court.

Kept getting calls for "Services for the Blind". Sending a truck in my area to pick up donations. (guess where this is going?)

Finally got them to stop calling. Something like this:

Don't you SEE what I am saying? Stop calling be. What are you, f*8cking blind or something? Open up your EYES and SEE what I am saying: Stop calling me. I will never donate to you. Why does a f**king blind person expect a free ride anyway? Get dark glasses, a cup and a cane and stand on a corner."

They never called back.

Sometimes you really have to be so bitching nasty to get them to stop.

"Sorry, we'll take you off ouir list"
"I should never be on your list. This number is on the Federal Do-Not-Call list"
"Oh, we don't use that list"

Some scamming telemarketers rotate their numbers so if you block the number, they get in again in another week or two when they rotate numbers.

Many have fake caller ID's. that should be prohibited by the phone companies. You should not be able to inject your own caller ID.

Current one coming in again here is "Air Duct Cleaning for $29.95". Once in a while I answer.
Company name: they guive a fake one
If we get disconnected, how do I call you back? a big old CLICK

Next time I will lead them on even to the point of giving a fake address.

Oh, these are on a land line which I never use and not in my name.

Sure, tell me all about it....

Gentle place the phone down and walk away.

No caller ID, no answer from me cause why you trying to hide.
Flip side, I don't recognize the number, no answer cause I mustn't know you.

Leave me a voice mail if I don't answer. I'll consider calling you back. Cause, why drop everything I am doing to answer the phone because said other person decides they want to chit chat right now. I've got things to do. not time for chit chat. Ain't nobody got time for that.
