The left carb keeps taking in gas even after it's full. I've set the float height to spec and I've replaced the float needle and seat. If I turn the tank petcock on and turn on prime, it'll leak gas into the air box and out the drain hose. Any ideas?
Check that the carb breather isn't blocked. Vapor lock in the bowl(s) can create some odd situations.

what is the carb breater that little black nipple between the carbs that looks like it should have a hose in it? and it turns if you want it to turn

since the breather is on a swivel and turns.. does it matter which way it points?
Wouldn't a clogged breather affect both carbs the same? Only the left carb leaks

I'll give it a try. Last night I took the float bowl off on the left side and turned the petcock to prime, when I held the float up with my finger, no fuel went through. When I dropped the float about 15mm from the gasket, it started to flow. Everything looked good, but when I pushed the float back up, fuel wouldn't stop dripping. Could there be gas in the overflow or breather coming back into the carb? :2guns: fuel leak!
It could be leaking around the o-ring on the needle valve seat and not the needle valve itself. I don't think the carb breather has anything to do with this problem.
Out of curiousity, did you buy OEM needle valve replacements or aftermarket (K&L)? I had bad luck with the K&L ones. OEM needle valves might be expensive, but they work.

K&L. The seat fit snuggly and it does seal fine until I let the floats down then it won't seal back up.
Spring for OEM needle valves from a dealer site. Ronayers.com is the one I use. They come with the o-rings on the seats, so you don't need to order that part separately.
