The fairing design was changed 2000 or 2001.
If im wrong someone may correct me :P
As far as I recall, it will work (since you are doing both tank and plastics) if you also take the 2004 seat. Otherwise you need to chop the nose off the older seat to match the newer style. But that's only from seeing discussions of it going by, not personal experience with any newer parts (all old ones here.)

so u are saying that the seat, plastics and the tank need to change to make it work.
will newer 2004 plastic bolts match with the 1999 frame?

Sorry - the 2001+ tail plastics will not mount on a 1989-2000 frame. The mounting points are different. The tail structure is slightly different in how the tail light mounts.
You will have to do a lot of fitting and modification to the tail to mount the plastics.
I think you are better staying with the 89-00 tank and plastics. Tanks are available and I have plenty of tail palstic sets.
