Just picked up this bike two days ago. Its a 92 gs500.

She's not without her flaws. I just had the fork seals start leaking last night, and third gear has a very loud clicking/tapping/clacking sound. It stumbles under 3000, and it idles about 3500 rpm.
I have a little work ahead of me, but she is my around town bike for short trips.
The two and a half hour trip from home was very predictable and I felt like the bike was very stable. I will start the small things tomorrow and see what I can do about rebuilding the front forks and messing with the carbs.
Anyway, with me luck and it looks like this is a nice board to get good information!

Welcome to the forum!
Huge favor, will you please take a picture from the side? It looks exactly like what I am planning to do to the rear end this winter. I love it man, that's the look I am going for. Congrats on the buy!
That is a bad ass looking bike. One of the things I love about the GS500 is that I am still always surprised how different people can get them to look from each other.
By the way, how loud is that thing with the chopped exhaust?
She is really loud! I am considering options to make this a more bearable experience. I purchased ear plugs for the ride home. Thanks for the compliments. I plan to do a katana rear swap for the wheel and shock, and I guess thats the popular choice for the front. This is a quick trip bike, and I don't plan to do much to it, but if it continues to be this much fun, who knows...

Any ideas about the ticking in third gear?
Also, can we not upload pics in this forum? I have to link them it seems.

see, now, to me, that there is a thing of beauty. I love it. I do. That's pretty much exactly what I want to do to the tail. I plan to hide the electronics where the battery is, and move that a bit lower or swap out for a different style that is smaller. I do like how it's lowered a bit as well. It's weird, my goal is to cross this bike with another one on the board with the black and red accent paint scheme. Badass in a little package.
