Hey guys, I am new to the site. I am from Pakistan and got this GS500 restored from junk condition. GS500s have been in use with cops here, I bought this auctioned bike and had it restored.. Below are some pics, the bike is running great however I have noticed that after return from a ride very little amount of oil leaks from somewhere. I have checked the engine oil, thats all good at proper level. Is it normal for oil to leak like this?? Or something I need to check?

Below is the pic with indication of the place where some oil is spotted.. also some oil is visible from under the bike, could not take a pic of that angle

What is your opinion??
Looks like the area where you get chain oil drip and should not be anything to worry about. Someone else may come along and correct me though. :thumb:
when I lube my chain up, i also get a puddle there for the next couple days. it dissipates after a while. keep an eye on the oil, and if it continues to leak, drip, whatever, it will get worse if its a true oil leak. but for now, ride!
Thanks guys. I have had this bike for almost two weeks now. The oil dips only after the ride which should mean its coming from the chain and the engine oil level is ok so far.. I'll keep checking it though.
How much fuel average you guys get from your GS on normal style ride? Does it do around 30km per liter?
Sorry I can't see the pics at work. But you also have a seal or two behind that cover. May be worth it to pull the cover back after a ride and see if it's coming out of one of those.
^ Opened up the cover, and yes the seal was faulty as was a loose nut causing the leak. Problem solved :D
Good to hear!
