Hey all. I've got a 2009 GS500 with just over 6000 miles on it. Last few rides it's been stalling on me if I'm in 5th or 6th gear and pull in the clutch to coast to a stop. It idles fine, never dies if I do that in a lower gear so I'm slightly confused. Browsing the forums it seems like I need to check the valves, the air filter, or maybe the carbs.
Is there anything else I should look at before I tear into the engine?
First thing I'd check would be the idle fuel mix... if you're in neutral and blip the throttle your revs should go up and drop right back down, and when returning to idle they shouldn't drop below the normal RPM and then recover.

Quite possibly all you need to do is adjust the clutch. Probably dragging a little and bogs down the engine in a higher gear.
You should be down shifting as you slow down, anyway.

Let me reiterate.... do NOT just pull in the clutch and slow to a stop.
Why?
What happens if you Need to go? Whoops, wrong gear, lug, bugger, no power, dang, got hit. PLUS, it relies totally on your brakes.
Change down gears - and let the clutch out accordingly - as you slow. That way you are Always in the correct gear should you need to hightail it outta there. Plus the engine braking has helped you slow down.
