Title: Ducati windshield
Post by: Somnospeed on August 02, 2012, 02:43:11 PM
So after an extensive Google search I finally found a windsheild that doesn't look like it came from a moped. I was hoping for a used OEM Ducati Monster fairing to pop up but no luck these last few weeks. I finally found the Puig Vision windscreen which I found on Monsterparts.com which is a site that sells Ducati Monster parts. It's not OEM for the Monster but pretty close. Well the closest I've found anyway.
I'm posting pics because in the searches I've done here I've seen others looking for the same thing as me.
Plus I just wanted to show off how cool it looks. :woohoo:  And incase anyone is wondering does a windscreen this small make any difference? Absolutely it does. Way better.

two questions:

1. how are you judging "better"?
2. how does it mount on ?

1. Better than not having any fairing at all. I was going 60 into a 20 mph wind and if felt fine. Normally that would blow my skinny ass around.

2. It comes with all the mounting hardware you need. (and plenty you don't need) It mounts to the headlight.

Great. So.... does this mounting hardware require drilling, or what...?

It requires a 12mm socket, a small allen wrench set and a phillips head. That's it. No drills, no nothing.

B..but...the warning sticker on the side of my GS said to only replace my windshield with Suzuki brand windshields. You can't just ignore the labels, man....  :nono:

But seriously, nice mod.  ;)

wow nice kit!

Although personally, I think I might prefer a different one. Maybe the raptor? (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/0013/WS-Round/0013.html)

durnit. not many images of gs500 with it. only this one. which looks really fab... but only because it matches the bodywork :-/

The Raptor is nice. And quite a bit cheaper too. But I did want to go with the look of solid black with a small see thru windshield. Plus I wanted something just a liiittlle bigger. They both have a very cool look though.
