Title: champion chain lube
Post by: Phil B on August 04, 2012, 07:43:03 AM
ANy thoughts on "champion chain lube (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Champion-Chain-Lube-Multi-Purpose-Spray-Grease/16881733)"?

It's a lithium-based spray.
I thought that kind of stuff was more for door hinges, but it claims to be for motorbikes, among other things....   ?

This stuff (http://www.walmart.com/ip/DuPont-Teflon-Chain-Saver-11-oz/16672659) is the way to go. I've only heard rave reviews about it.

I think you're mistaken.
The dupont "multi purpose, DRY, teflon lubricant", was the one to rave about. (and I used to use it myself)
Unfortunately, they've discontinued that. ANd their chainsaver, is not as good, according to reviews.

Meanwhile... i had already bought a can of the champion stuff, and sprayed it on my chain.  I'm just wondering if I made a mistake doing so, and need to clean it off and put on something better :-/

PS - as long as you keep lubing your chain you should be fine. More often is better than less.  :thumb:

DuPont would say otherwise. They claim "our dry, wax formula is not gone, it has simply changed to a yellow can," and "any differences you are seeing are purely attributed to when the can was filled during the production run."

and, as the same article you are probably quoting also says, (paraphrasing), "yeah, but they lie"
