Ok, so I haven't posted on here in a long while, but since then i have gotten my license and started riding a bit this summer, but still a total beginner. Yesterday I was on my way home at 4am, and my foot slipped at a stop sign and i dropped my bike on its right side while stopped. I got up, turned off the engine, picked the bike up, checked myself over, checked the bike over, seemed like only minor cosmetic damage, so i tried to start it up and it wouldn't start. Tried it a few times, but the engine still wasn't turning. So i pushed it up the hill, rolled down and bump started it on the move. Fired up great, rode home, went out this morning, bike started up fine for me this morning. So i assume i must have just like, killed the battery, and it charged back up on the ride home? Anything else i should check / worry about?
Odd you went from fine to dead upon laying it over.
It's sort of obvious you have a loose connection on your battery or elsewhere.
Be sure the battery itself isn't loose.It may have grounded out and you jarred it loose on the bump start.
I am sorta new to the GS 500 so I don't know if there is a LAS (lean angle sensor) on it....if it leans to far it will cut off (crash) ,and wont restart till the fluids settle...10 or 15 minutes usually before they refire.
I am guessing it don't have 1 though ,since my daughter has laid this one over 3 times.

Might be a silly question, but were you trying to start it in gear with the side stand down?
Flooded carbs?

No, i shifted it to neutral when I tried to start it. I found out about that failsafe by doing it wrong early after getting the bike tho, so it wasn't a silly question.
Did you accidently hit the kill switch thats on the right side??
Nah. I don't think the starter even fires if the kill switch is off, but i did the ol' Fine-C check. Guess i never specified, but the starter did sound like it was trying, just the engine wasn't turning. As far as flooded carbs tho, that issue would be resolved by now right? Nothing i need to do at this point?
What year is your GS?
I think some of the newer ones have to cycle the kill switch off/on and/or turn ignition off/on before it will restart after tipping. I seem to recall reading that around here somewhere.

Really. When my '97 took a nap while warming up, it just kept thumping along. Curious.
