Well, Been thinking a lot about this, and I feel once we move into the new house, this is within my technical knowledge...
Want the base to be an old sportster ( Main hoop frame and forks, and powertrain).
Now, this is where the fun begins.
I would like to sport-bike it. I know, it isn't a sportbike, but the small stature of it and the power levels it puts out will be perfect for Stephanie.
Plan on fitting an 05 swingarm upside down (to account for the right hand drive on the sporties) (http://www.seastarsuperbikes.co.uk/ZX6R%202005%20FURTHER%20SPECS1_files/zx636c_05_swingarm01_p.jpg)
Also, would like to convert to a decent mono shock.
It would be single seat, with mild rear-sets. Will freshen the stock forks with gold racetek emulators and springs. Also would convert the bike to chain drive, use the stock 636 rear wheel/brakes, and lace up an 18inch rim to the stock front hub with think black laces.
Biggest part would be fabrication of the rear swingarm, and shock perch. Would cut off all the unneeded crap off the stock sporty frame and fab up a new rear subframe.
Anyone with photoshop skills care to draw this up for me. It looks great in my mind, but without it on paper, its hard to tell.
Also, feel free to brainstorm other ideas I haven't thought of.
Keep out the comments of it being a Harley, being underpowered, etc. Just looking for help.

So, are you basically making it into a buell?
Just thinking there are alot of buell parts you could use in this build!
I am going to watch this like a hawk, I would love to do a bike in this style.
Shazammin fook yea! :thumb: I wanted to do something like this but couldn't find a (expletive) harley frame with clean paper cheap enough. Thought it would be great to stuff a FAT fi japanese engine in it.
Post somemore ideas you got xune!
what about an xb9 swingarm. based off of 883 sportie. or the 12, obviously based off of 1200. i miss my 03 lol. will be watching this project develop.
It'll be a bit, just brainstorming now, so shout out ideas!
Need to get the house first, and do the wedding and honeymoon.
Than, its open season! :thumb:
not sure its a good diea to flip the swing arm upside down. Its designed to tolerate stress in its current right side up configuration. Not sure it will handle the stresses properly when all the forces are acting on it from the opposite direction. Cant think of it as a flat piece of metal where its the same no matter which way you flip it. Its designed with certain curves and reinforcements in certain places to tolerate projected stress loads.
Why not a buell scg? its got a lower seat height and still will retain all the handling characteristics of its bigger brothers. Good luck with the build!
I keep looking but this is the closest I've seen,......

Friend of mine built this one.
I want to ride another xr1200 again. could ride that pig almost as agressively as a sportbike. ALMOST.
