Title: Why does my side stand have so much free-play all of a sudden?
Post by: justafifteen on August 16, 2012, 12:28:05 AM
Noticed this a few days ago. When the side stand is down (or up) it's got a lot of sideways free-play.

Like, if I put it down, I can wiggle it to the left and right (of the bike) quite a bit, like about 1". The bolt is tightened very tight and it still wiggles. It opens and closes just fine, but I've very weary about resting the bike on it now. I'm using the center stand instead. What could be causing this? It's not super-duper easy to make it wiggle since it's still got the tension of the springs on it, but that's all you have to overcome to make it move.

Here's an awesome picture I made demonstrating the motion it has when the side stand is "down" and when it is "up"

That is so weird that I just barely noticed that. I saw my bike leaning way more than usual and found my side stand wiggled. Well, thanks guys. :)
