Title: more K&N stupidity
Post by: Phil B on August 18, 2012, 07:36:36 PM
So... I have the K&N filter out, at any rate.

GIven that I didnt put it in to start with, I thought I'd check the official install instructions.

http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/SU-5589_inst.pdf

They have an arrow, "install provided gasket here".

Odd thing is, the thing pointed to in the picture, matching a little rubber thing with a white greasepaper ring on top of it, that seems to already be part of/stuck to my one.... but the paper thingie is coming off.  It kinda seems like one of those things where you normally peel it OFF, so that the glue on some sticky gizmo starts working.
But the instructions do not say to remove the white thing.

Is it supposed to stay?  and is that whole thing "the provided gasket"?

(I hate ambiguous documentation, grrr!)
