Title: 2005 GS500F part out
Post by: weedahoe on August 20, 2012, 03:27:21 PM
I bought this bike for the engine to put in my 07. So everything else is for sale. There are no fairings and no headlight. The bike has 2800 miles on it. Tires are perfect. Rear tail light is damaged but usable. Everything else is fine.

The gas tank has one small ding, nothing major.

Make reasonable offers on parts and if you need pics of anything specific please LMK.

Bike pics are here

http://sdrv.ms/NfXlcD

Also, plenty of parts left on this bike

front stay
rear brakes/calipers/master cylinder
CDI
L&R rear sets
battery box
rear shock
oil cooler & hoses
PAIR system
tank cap/lock and ignition switch
lots of engine parts
frame (no title)

I just found out today that my front fork seals are bad... I was curious if I purchased a whole new front fork set from you, how difficult would that be to install? I would be replacing the fork rather than fixing the seals.

Reason for this is that its $260 to get the seals replaced.

If it is a task doable by someone with limited mechanical ability.. what kind of price would you be asking for them? I have the same exact bike. year and color.

Thanks! I live in Columbia, Missouri 65203, so im not sure what shipping might be.

They are really easy to get out and back in. I have uploaded the service manual in the main section if you want to download it. I promise I can do a lot better than $260....lol

Drew ... yah .. i pulled my forks out and put them back few months ago... as a 1st timer

follow the manual... have a buddy handy to help support stuff if its your 1st time... my buddy knew bugger all , same as me .. but the extra hands and eyes were helpful!

oh ... and use GOOD tools.... busted/cracked/chinese crap - wrenches, screwdrivers, allen keys etc are NOT your friend here! ... you dont need a whole cabinet of stuff ... but use worthy tools please!!!

Great! There is a self service auto shop in town that I would probably use to put them on. What kind of condition are they in? any damage?

I really wouldnt know what to offer you as far as price... Name your price and ill let you know if I can afford it. Im a college kid on a college budget, so please be nice.  :thumb:

It sounds like this is the better choice than having the seals replaced, assuming the forks are both in good condition.

Thanks!

They are in perfect condition. The engine still has the factory oil in it. Forks are straight, no leaks, less than 3k miles on this bike so they are nice. If you want, I can get some pics in the morning and post them. I've almost got the the frame bare and already swapped the engine over to my bike.

The guage houseing is it busted anywhere or any tabs broken? Also are the tubes bent in anyway? Would be intereted in both.

Gauges have slight damage (see pics). If I were going to keep them I would take them apart and bend back the metal plate and put a slightly bigger washer under the one screw (again see pics)

Fork tubes are straight and in excellent shape.

Here are some pics of everything

I appreciate the offer for the video, but I think I am still going to look around for an exhaust system with cleaner headers.

Thanks,

Maybe I'm missing something. These are perfect barely used like new headers. There is ZERO wrong with them.

No rust, great surface, 2800 miles on them, no scratches on the pipes or muffler. Idk what you're really looking for but good luck finding anything better seriously.

So when sitting on the bike the left side guage housing screw tab that connects to the metal part is broken out? Its hard to see even when I zoom in. Would you take $100 for gauge and forks?
Title: Re: 2005 GS500F part out
Post by: weedahoe on August 21, 2012, 06:20:54 PM
Forks are long and not light. These means a lot for shipping. Only good ones I seen on ebay were with the triples and they were 350. I seen PLENTY of others for less but all were bent

I'm not trying to get rich off these but can't ship those and nice gauges for 100.

I'm going to take the gauges apart later when I get a change and bend the rings back and screw them back together. Other than that, the only thing wrong at that point would be the top chrome trim piece. Gauges alone should easily bring 75-100+. I've had to be buy a set before.

Yeah that ebay gauge was at $60, I was bidding on it, thats why its that high now. It was just me bidding then someone else had to come in there and jack the price up. When I was thinking $100 for the parts I was thinking of paying for shipping too. Where are you at on price?
Title: Re: 2005 GS500F part out
Post by: weedahoe on August 21, 2012, 06:33:07 PM
Before I had my 07/F, I had my 94/E and was going to convert it up. I had bought a set of 09 gauges with 1k on the odometer and paid for close to 200 for them.

Title: Re: 2005 GS500F part out
Post by: justgswood83 on August 22, 2012, 07:10:43 PM
Would you be willing to sale just one of the fork tubes? One is really all I need because my right one is slightly bent . It still compresses and everything but it would be nice to have two straight ones.
Title: Re: 2005 GS500F part out
Post by: weedahoe on August 22, 2012, 07:13:10 PM
If you can find someone else who want the other, sure. Other than that, I really dont want to separate. THX for asking though. They are currently on hold for another member as he is trying to get some finds together. If not, then ebay they go.

Complete left and right forks and gauges shipped for 175 with tracking. I'll also throw in the speedo and cable.

Still have the forks and gauges? Still for sale for 175 shipped?
Title: Re: 2005 GS500F part out

I didn't realize how much they weigh plus I need a pretty long box to put them in at 36". Plus you were wanting two items which means I'm willing to give discounts on multiple pieces (just ask Nathan) and it would save on shipping, packing materials and boxes.

Not being pushy but I've got another member who wants them for 150 shipped but is trying to get the coins together. The gauges have a deposit on them already.
