Are you happy? Looking at a 4x4 with 5.7 hemi. If this becomes a chev/ford/dodge duck swinging contest I'll roll out the ban hammer.
 mmmmmmm hemi! :thumb:
john although not an owner myself i have driven them. if youre still out there in the armpit of hell, the 4x4 can come in handy. much BLM land to explore. they do like the gas though. but dependable trucks. great engines. the hemi is a 360 if i recall correctly. one of dodges best overall. not a huge fan of their frames, but of the drivetrains?, hell yes, id plug a 5.7 hemi and trans into a ford superduty. ( love the frames ) now, hemi vs diesel would be a tough call for me. i would drive bell rd to 48th st and van buren to work. would have loved that extra power and size versus my frontier. my nissan although a great truck lacked power and size lol. id say if it checks good my a tech, and price is right and using it as a commuter wont break ya, then go for it.
any particaular reason john why 09 +?, anyhoo good to hear from you again. and the ticker about self paying forward, and site beign add free, i love this site, and it wouldnt bother me if there were adds posted to generate revenue. ive been here since 2003. think hte only ones here longer are you , anne, pablo, known as post nazi @ that time, i think buddha was here too. , ANYHOO sorry, back to the truck. got pics? manual , automatic?
09+ is the current generation ram truck.
Looking at 5.7L 4x4 quad cab (need 6,6 bed), lTD slip diff, 3.92 rear, tow brake control. Red or white with color keyed grille and 20" wheels. We're talking about 25K from a 35K sticker. Hungry dealers competing make me happy.
White looks just like this: (http://images.dealerrevs.com/pictures/56821468.jpg)
red with chrome rims but 3.55 gearing: (http://images.autoconx.com/Photos/075/509327075_1_B.jpg)
White is popular in the desert, but red is so sexy. I am hoping the white truck comes in with a better price because the dealer is closer to me.
Toyota out of the blue came in today at 26K for 5.7 4x4 Tundra grade (read basic trim) from 34.6K sticker. This really makes me itch because lets face it, it's a toyota made in Texas. And it's a Toyota with a bad ass engine. That is way below invoice.
Looks like this: http://imganuncios.mitula.net/2012_toyota_tundra_greeley_co_96323913196607792.jpg
What is killing me is trade in on dodge after 1 year is 21K, trade on Tundra is 26K. 3 years goes to 17k vs 20. The toyota clearly has resale advantage.
well, whats the plan with the vehicle?. yota not made for heavy duty work. ( why we dont see any yota dump/tow trucks. but great engines though i must admit. anyhoo back to the dodge. I love the red/burgundy one. but like the white ones gearing. resale values change john dont put too much stock in that.
Chrysler is notorious for poor quality. There is a reason why no one wants them. First it was Benz then Cerberus, now FIAT. Benz paid a lot and sold for cents on dollar. Sorry to be a Debbie downer here, but after seeing it first hand (extended family loves Chrysler) they end up costing a ton of money. Consumer reports confirms this.
Transmission and body problems mostly...catastrophic failures. Seen 2 rams with trannys rebuilt twice in 5 years. Not towing, just driving.
Now, that was before FIAT, so YMMV, but do your homework.

FWD chryslers were worse. thank you mr iacocca/uaw the transmissions of early 2000's were terrible. not sure about later ones. but with a couple mods the good ones ( older) are interchangeable with later engines. prefer the manuals myself. if i HAD to buy a dodge. actually now just called ram. no longer dodge ram ( seeing commercials like this wondering wtf) if i had to buy one, this would be one time id consider an extended warranty on the powertrain. mainly the transmission.
Probably getting the white one like in the photo. 5.7 hemi, 3.92 gears, posi rear, trailer package, 4wd. Basic power accessories.
I am not rich. If Fiat, Dodge, Ram or whomever wants to discount these things like 9k off sticker who am I to argue. Nobody else can come close. And it is a capable off road truck with the right tires.
if you have an electrical problem start to develop. take care of it IMMEDIATELY dont procrastinate
I am a Site Mod on another board for Dodge Rams and can tell you anything you want to know about them. I do a lot of custom work and performance work on them as well.
Mine is an 04 Quad cab, Hemi, custom ported and shaved heads, custom cam, custom tuned through Diablo, custom CAI, 6.1 ignition conversion, electric fans, power wire, Sonnax trans line pressure booster, Stage 2 trans valve body, 4.56s gears, Auburn LSD, Pacesetter ceramic long tube headers, no cats, x pipe, dual DMH electric cutouts, dual open Magnaflow mufflers, 12 inch lift with 24" rims and 36" all terrains, custom RPB grill, HID retrofit with Infiniti Q45 Gatlin projectors and more....a lot more.
Here are some pics to go through

I bought a white quad cab. With rebates and college grad extra rebate, clearance well below invoice pricing I paid 9k less than sticker. With a good trade I didn't have to pay much. New, warranty, and the infamous chrysler lifetime warranty that can be purchased within 12 months. I won't have much to worry about..
5.7 hemi 4wd 6 spd, standard transfer case.
Limited slip
3.92 rear end
32 gal gas tank
trailer brake control
tow package
It isn't overly fancy inside, barely over base model, but it has power windows and locks, ac, tilt and criuse, evic, and a basic radio. Dual exhaust does look nice. The model is called an express.
congrats my friend. now.... post pics Eh?
