Title: tail swap
Post by: justgswood83 on August 25, 2012, 09:53:38 AM
I know there are many tail swap forums and this and that. What I want to know is if anyone has done or know where I can find how to do a CBR 04 1000rr swap on a 04 gs500f. Specifically the CBR 1000rr swap is what I'm looking for. Or just any ideas about it. Also have a Yamaha riders solo seat that will be put on it to. Have any ideas about fitting the seat to and those two together also.

I vote make a build thread on how you did it for the next guy who comes along and uses the search function to see what's available.  I'd really like to see how u do it.

Biggest things for me were figuring out the angle and how to support the tail enough to where I could jump up and down on it and it would hold.

Ok ok,....Honestly, after doing it, really there isn't anything wrong with the gs' tail itself for the bike that it is.  Maybe on a project bike, sure but I personally think unless your dedicated to making it 100% on a tail swap, just go with what's there.  My .02.

There is a few guys on here that have done, R1, CBR yails. If i have enough money after buying tools for school i'm going to do a Ducati monster tail, and seat.

cool :) not far from bens, ( mobile home park) or new henderson rd. some good riding areas there. go down new henderson. @ fork, bear left, take left onto bull run rd,  ( watch out for jump lol) follow to clinton hwy. but mainly a swap your bet is to get one that can fit a gs subframe OR fab a subframe from donor bike or go full on custom
