My Bridgestones are dry-rotted. I need new rubber to pass. Instead of buying new Battleax's, I'm going cheap.

$68 for the rear

$50-ish for the front (I think the price changed)

As the miles roll on, I'll let you know how cheap rubber feels.
I thought they were cheaper at Motorcycle Superstore? Either way, I've heard good things about Shinko's (for the price anyway).
i just bought the duro and i actually like the hell out of it man. i have a bridgestone front though.
My buddy had Shinko on his zx6-r. He didn't like them. Said they were too slick. Always spinning his rear when getting on the highway.
I just replace my rear with a a Battleax for $95 from Denniskirk.com. I wish I would have tried another brand. Funny thing is most shops here where asking $110+ for battlax if they can get it. The Suzuki dealer could not even get it (their supplier was out). They said they would have to get it from Suzuki for $160. I laughed and so did the parts clerk. I think the battlax is a vanishing tire?

they're hard. thats why. tell him to put some velcro on his seat so his rear dont spin lol
Update: Tall Tires!
80 series front tire
90 series rear.
The front tire doesn't look much taller but that back tire is HUGE by comparison. There isn't much room between the tread and the rear brake arm. A dime fits in the gap, but not a nickel. I wonder if i have it aligned correctly.

The rear tire is tall enough to still touch the ground when the bike is up on the center stand.

I have those on my sidecar rig and after 3,000 miles they are just now starting to show a little wear !!.

WOW. Those are tall. Keep us updated, I've been looking at those for a cheap back-up to the battlax.
I run the shinko 006 Podiums front and rear on my gs500 and on the 600 kat. They have held up pretty good with the 1500 miles or so we have put on them, do good on wet roads also in my opinion.
my two cents worth anyway.
It will be interesting to see how they last. You get what you pay for. I never use the word 'cheap' with tires, brakes, and oil.
It will be interesting, yes to see how long they last. I haven't gone far with them yet. I've only ridden an 8min jaunt from home to a local school where I'm doing my Student-Teaching.
It usually takes me two years to square-off a back tire with all the touring and commuting I do around PA. If they last two years, great! If they last a year-and-a-half, eh...that would be disappointing, but I would nod and say: "You get what you pay for." If the back tire doesn't even past inspection this time NEXT year...I'm calling shinannigans!
WOW 2 years !!
I go thru 1.5 sets of tires a year !!!.
