Title: Combo: Exhaust drilling / Fork cap torque spec
Post by: cozy on December 23, 2003, 09:48:56 AM
Ok,
So i will forgo the cobra pipe in favor of prog fork springs for the first mod. I have ordered them and will do this during jan. however, i can't find torque specs for the fork caps in the clymer. Anybody know what they are?

Also, i'm gonna try drilling the exhaust per the specs on bike power -red holes only. I just want it louder for right now, i'm too green to appreciate subtle power increases. what should i expect besides noise - will iscrew up my back pressure?

Thanks you guys!

You will need to jet after the Pipe drilling.

Unless you don't mind back firing whenever you slow down.

You probably wont need to rejet it... but doing a decent jetting, filter and slip on... wone make any subtle difference in power... it will make a mondo eye popping difference. But definetely forks nd handling come first. The better option would be to put in that chevy valve spring as a spacer for the forks, and get a better rear shock. That way you'd save ~$30 over the progressives, and end up pretty good in the handling department.
Cool.
Srinath.

I believe some have done a slip-on w/o rejetting.  Just drilling won't require one.  I did the drilling and no rejet.  Not to say that rejetting isn't a good idea, even with a stock setup.

I started with drilling, then switched to the slip on.  Both mods had the same effect on my bike --> extremely lean.
