Title: Sunbury newbie
Post by: von der Neeth on September 06, 2012, 03:24:46 PM

Hi all,

New to the forum and reasonably new to riding. Again. Bought a 2010 GS500E new in May 2011, and having a ball on it!

Thanks all.

Yairs, yairs, the 'Tard Farm'... Had a squiz, fairly chuckleworthy in parts. For instance, who would've known that the forum/website is a front for the Alien-Commie-Fat Kids-Dodgy Lebo Builders-Globalisationist evildoers taking the world so steadily over? VERY illuminating...

As far as a pic. goes, perhaps I belong on the Farm myself - tried to upload one and evidently got it absolutely wrong. What's the trick there?

Hey vdn! From one newbie to another, hi! Hope to see you on the road.
What's 'origin' anyway?

vdn:

Select image URL - it MUST either end in jpg or gif, nothing else will work.

So I have an image. The url is http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Nzg-arQL3bY/TU9-Ik4h_UI/AAAAAAAAARw/U9UaPUOquJQ/s1600/Alien+commie+soccer.jpg

I go to the icons above the  Post Box and select the one beneath the bold B, it looks like this (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/Themes/default/images/bbc/img.gif)

Doing so gives me an image tag. [img][/img]

Between those tags I insert me url so it now looks like this [img]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Nzg-arQL3bY/TU9-Ik4h_UI/AAAAAAAAARw/U9UaPUOquJQ/s1600/Alien+commie+soccer.jpg[/img]

When you press Post it will appear.

If you do not have a photobucket, flickr, imageshack account, you can freely use imgur or tinypic as the image host. In this case, I went to imgur and created a new image link. So the above pic's url is now also http://i.imgur.com/fCov5.jpg and when put into the above tags gives this...

Hope this helps,

Michael

Yes, it does!!! I had most of that right, but I was trying to use a gallery file rather than a URL.

Ta Mr Mister!

(Note: Also works with pics you've loaded on Farcebook... 'Cos that's what this one is!)

Haha, yeah... That one and the noise label on the other side. You wouldn't believe how much those things torture me. This is my first new vehicle of any kind, ever - and if I take them off then it's not new anymore. Of course, they do look a bit schtoopid.

Welcome to the OCD mind.

(Actually, I don't have OCD. I have CDO. It's mostly the same, except the letters are in Alphabetical Order... AS THEY SHOULD BE.)

I'm tossing up w whether I should get rid of t he one that tells me to read the manual.....you never know, I just might need to be reminded of that in the future!
.....if I had a manual.

If you're MR, yes. Thanks, it's a great video. It persuaded me to get a GS500 and was really helpful. I watched again because I thought I remembered something about the seat lifting.
Funny thing is that once I lifted the seat, I found the manual and service book there.....the one I was bitching about not having!
I'll start a new post about my first week riding.

Whew, lucky. I was going to suggest looking under the seat for them, but then thought that might come across as me being a bit of a tosser... Points off the salesman's performance for not telling you that stuff when you picked the bike up, too.
