So my oil plug hole has been stripped for quite some time. For a while now I've just been tighting it up, then putting some sealer around it to hold it. But after a few oil changes it's started to get so bad that it's just always dripping.

What would be my best option here? Should I take off the pan and tap it? Or just buy an oversize bolt?

For best results take it off ,and retap it to a larger size....but plan b=

Seach for universal oil plugs,you may have better success.

You have lots of options, depends on how much you want to spend, if you want to keep things standard and how confident you are about retapping etc. The easiest way is to replace the whole sump with another, there are plenty of shagged GS5 engines about.....oh and dont forget about the gasket :thumb:

Try searching ebay for a used oil pan. $30-$40. Less hassle, and retain the OEM plug size. 'F' model slightly more since newer and has oil cooler holes:

Have had to dorp the pan for a dropped washer before so it's definitely something I can do right!
And burnchassis, those universal plugs are sick! I had no idea, seems like something you should just keep around in case. Definitely going to have to get one of those.

On a aide note, I use a Fomoto oil valve on my truck and the wifes Mini

If your plug is shagged consider a magnetic sump plug too to catch any crap that the oil filter doesn't.

To the op. Mine was stripped and heli-coiled a long time ago. Lasted for a while, then became a pain.
I would recommend replacing the pan. That's what I just did.
those oil valves are awesome. makes oil changes a million times faster.
they didnt list bike the last time i checked but all you need is the thread size.
