Title: 2006 GS500F Blowing Fuses
Post by: kingofengland on September 25, 2012, 02:56:53 PM
Hello all! I found the forum while trying to fix my bike so I wanted to post the solution here in case anybody else had the same problem!

My bike kept blowing the 20A fuse. Generally when coming to a stop, downshifting, clutch engaged, etc. Also, about a month before this started, the high-beam indicated light stopped working. Thought any of these could be the issue.  :technical: Found that the wiring that runs the high-beam indicated as well as several others runs by the engine on the right side. The dealership had replaced the spark plugs (with the previous owner) and ran the wiring under the plug cable instead of over it. It was touching the engine, melted the wiring, and would short it out when it touched (during sudden movements like coming to a stop.) Taped up the wiring, and only used about 5 fuses in the process :)

Hope that helps somebody else someday! Glad to have found this forum!  :woohoo:

Glad you got it sorted out. It's a good thing that you only fried the fuse and not the CDI box or a switch/relay.

Thanks. Yes it definitely could have been worse!
