I ordered some parts for the GS a while ago and still no sign of shipment, last contact with person was the 18TH,
what do you think is acceptable
BTW it has been 12 days now
Ron
That dose not seem unreasonable. Don't forget buisness days do not count. The time for delivery will also varie greatly on the location and shipping method. If I was you I would request a shipping tracking number then you can follow it as it moves around.
I always request tracking numbers when buying and always supply them when selling. It re-affirms with the buyer the parts have been shipped and lets them know when they will be there. Even USPS has tracking and it costs very little so no reason NOT to have it IMO
what pisses me off is the company I ordered from is about 3 hrs from me, I ordered from them because he said he could ship right away, well I now found out he lied and did not have the parts in stock and had to have them sent from west coast :2guns:
Ron
Ok, who is it? Maybe it will save someone the trouble later.
I'll tell you who I'm pissed at: Cycle Gear.
Someone asked if they could get me a gift card for my birthday. I said, "Motorcycle Gear .com". They found Cycle Gear instead. Well, I ordered a set of Motocentric Sport bags, since their price was the same. The website says "ships in 3-5 days". Well it has been 8 business days and still hasn't shipped. I called last night to get some info: "Well, our warehouse got it a few days ago. Don't know why it hasn't shipped."
So I won't order from Cycle Gear again. Motorcyclegear.com has always had excellent service.
This reminds me of stupid tech suppirt questions, emails and message board postings my company gets.
"My program has a wrong number. Please fix it".
oooookkkkkkkkkaaayyyyy...... What is really the problem?
Here:
1. No name of dealer
2. No mention of product purchased
3. No mention of how paid
4. No mention if bought direct, through ebay or elsewhere.
"I ordered something. Please help me".
soooooooooo............ no details?
Always find out shipping times and shipping policy. Had this happen once. Found out that the product came from Hong Kong via boat. Took 30 or so days.
My mistake, but ever since then, I make sure to ask. Free or Super Saver Shipping typically means hurry up and wait most times.

OK on Sept 13th I ordered exhaust and K&N filter from Riders Discount thinking after talking to the guy when ordering it would be shipped out asap, after not receiving it or tracking info, I finally got a hold of someone who told me it was not in stock and had to come from west coast warehouse, finally recieved today
second thing I ordered the same day was a jet kit from someone on this board, after several pm's finally got a response today that they will be shipped out today
I was just ranting about POOR customer service among sellers anymore and it just seems to be the norm lately
Ron
99% of my ordering goes without a hitch.
In fact, i ordered a bunch of Busted Knuckle stuff for the bike cave (thermometer, beer cozies, etc.) and they called me - very sorry to call because they said they rarely call Sears customer orders but said one item was out of stock for a week and wanted to know if these were gifts. did I need the 4 items now or could I wait a week and get all 5 at the same time. Nice service!
Another ebay person I bought 2 sets of Harley fork reflectors. They let me know that somehow they only had one but would get me another set if that was OK or refund price of one.
Ordered Motad Exhaust from UK. Not a problem.
On the flip side, places like Riders Discount, Bike Bandit and others are internet stores/distributors. "In Stock" means they can get it - not on the shelf ready to ship. Been through that and cancelled the order for a V&H system.
If not in a hurry for jets I order from Bike Bandit. If I need it yesterday, PJ Motorsports. You pay more but you have a REAL NICE PERSON to handle the order and personally get you the parts (even carb advice!)
I support my local dealer (Aurora Suzuki) whenever I can. They will always try to price match, and there is no shipping cost and there is a West Seattle GS500 Club Discount! They would rather make one dollar and keep a customer than try to make $25 and risk losing a customer.
There are good and bad dealers. Riders Discount and Bike Bandit I know things will come SOMEDAY but never know when.
http://powersportsplus.com/ is a good place to order. They are like a clearing house for lots of distributors - kind of like Amazon is or Sears sells their stuff and stuff through lots of other people (like the Busted Knuckle stuff for decorating the Bike Cave.)
