Title: Ignition problem
Post by: rock_rebel on September 30, 2012, 01:44:25 PM
I crashed my bike a while back and cracked the right side engine case, and destroyed the igition rotor and timing pickup as well. In the crankshaft there's a gaping hole where a pin is supposed to fit. I bought another pin and put it in the hole with some JB weld. It's holding pretty strong but even with the new ignition rotor the engine is turning but it's not actually starting. Adidasguy has been helping me out tremendously with this. Things I've checked :

- Timing pickup is plugged in correctly under the seat
- Both spark plugs are firing
- The rotor isn't hitting off the magnetic strip on the pickup
- Both carb bowls contain fuel

Things I noticed that might affect the bike starting:

- Tank currently only has about a gallon of gas
- Drained oil and noticed that there's only a half gallon of oil in the bike. Oil stick was showing no oil on tip

The bike has been pretty much sitting for the last two years. I'm not sure what else to try, as I'm at wits end with this bike. Accidents suck. It might deter me from getting another bike in the future.
