Title: Need help identifying small rubber thingy that came off my bike
Post by: stoich on October 01, 2012, 10:34:09 AM
Hi guys,
I crashed my bike. Even though my tires are fine I skidded in the rain. Is that normal?

Anyway, a small rubbery thingy came off my bike. Actually I'm not sure whether it's from the bike. Can anybody recognize this thing

Hmm, I do not recognize that piece.  It looks vaguely similar to the rubber holder for the oil cooler assembly, but in one pic with your thumb, its too large to be that.

What happened in the crash, what got damaged? That might help us isolate where it came from.

Not a stock GS500 part. I built one from scratch and have taken a couple apart. Never have seen any rubber part that big.

Possibly it came from some after market parts you have installed on your bike?

Maybe that's what you hit?

Tires that look good may not be. Old tires have hard rubber which has less traction in the rain. Oil on the road is always a hazard.
