two questions regarding 1999 500e
1. second time i run out of gas, i am guessing i got the reserve lines backwards? i thoughtbi hooked them according to diagram. is it the long or short one that is the res line?
2. i am getting 122-130 miles per tank.
i have a k&n drop in filter, 15t front sprocket. and my jets are one size bigger the stock, so they are 40/125
is this normal mileage? i do not have and leaks, carbs were synced in spring i idle at 1300-1400

Dude, Fuel mileage is expressed in miles per gallon...not miles per tank.

Yeah but if you know how many miles you get per gallon and how many gallons you have per tank, then you kinda know how many miles per tank you got.
I say that because since we dont have a fuel gauge, I also clock my mileage per tank so when I know Im getting low. However, Im normally topping mine off every other ride or so anyway.

yeah thAts what i do. so how many miles do you get?
Usually 150 miles before reserve [non california (even less room since they have the "canister" in there taking up space) but also 89-99 smaller tank - 4.5 gallons .vs. 5.5 gallons, if I recall correctly - 0.9 gallons for reserve in either case, I believe - you can't really get all the reserve in either case, I know.]
You might want to check your valve clearance - your reported mileage is fairly poor, but that also depends a lot on how you ride. Valve clearance issues can cause poor mileage, though.
Yeah, if Im on a full wide all day or weekend and if I get to 175-200, I start hunting the next station. Ive never tried to see how much I can really get. My wife doesnt like me on my bike and the last thing i wanna do is call her for gas....LOL
