Post by: Beemersworld on October 15, 2012, 07:20:38 PM
Hey guys I just swapped out handlebars and Im having trouble getting the throttle cable hooked back in.   Any tips that might make it easier?   I need to ride it in the morning and cant figure this out!!  I just cant get it to reach an extra centimeter to get in in there!! HELP

Route the cable differently. Instead of routing it between the forks, take a shortcut going outside (to the right) of the right fork.

Be sure there is plenty of play to allow full left and right turns.

so my buddy who is a gearhead comes over and has it figured out in 3 minutes!     The actual outer cable had plenty of length,  it was the inner one I could get anymore from,   I guess I wasnt pulling hard enough or something cause he says he didnt change anything,     I guess Im just a sissy that didnt have the strength to get anymore slack.   Oh well at least its running again!

He probably didn't get any more free slack out of the cable than you did -- my guess is he either pulled harder than you were willing to and pulled the throttle up against the force of the spring, or reached down to the carbs and opened the throttle by hand to give him more play in the cable.

Either way, no need to buy a dress  ;)
