Hey all,
New to the forum & to riding :). Have made my intro to Netrider forums, & a fellow member mentioned the Aussie community here, so I thought pop in :). I'm from QLD (but go back & forth to NSW quite often :S)
Got my RE through Ride Smart not too long ago & have been hunting around for a GS500 Naked since (preferably the Blue). I've come across a couple for sale (both private & dealer), but still inspecting. I posted some screenies/topic regarding the inspections here http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=62255.0 (thought these screenies might get a bigger impact from general community (both Aus & international :) )
Regarding the bikes, as mentioned in the link, they're both from dealers, though I haven't been able to find reviews on either of them for any negative/positive reviews towards them. The Blue version is from Top-Gun Yamaha (Bundamba qld) & the Black is from Pro Motorcycles located in Slacks Creek. Has anyone heard/had experience with these guys ?
Looking to spend about $4k on the bike (give or take depending on condition and year etc..)
Have also been checking out gear too & recently picked myself up a helmet, Shark Vision-R, happy with it. My brother has been riding a Yamaha Vstar250 & I must say does have quite a different feel lol, but has been fun :).
Looking forward to chatting with you guys & learning from you all :).
Regards,

Hey mate.
When did you do your ride smart course?
I did mine there too! But *cough*failed*cough*
Cheers
G'day Widget welcome to the nuthouse, Im over the southside of brissy, and you got mister, and cods down the coast. Aussiechick is also on here every now and again as well and a few other members stop by from time to time. Hope you can find what your looking for. GS is IMO one of the best learner bikes you can get and there simple to maintain as well. Good luck
Thanks guys :),
QuoteWhen did you do you HART course?
I did my QRIDE over 2days through Ride Smart (Southside, Runcorn) early September :), the guy was pretty good & we had a small group too, only 4people :p.

Small group is best, or larger group with more instructors still bringing it to 4 per instructor.

Hi I got my q ride through "Macleans Pines" school at Jimboomba they were pretty good and theres a bit of country riding :D
Welcome Widget, which side of town are you on? I'm northside near AussieChick and have the 500's predecessor the 450...
These are definitely good bikes :thumb:
Can't comment on QRide or Ridesmart or anything... none of that existed when I was learning...
Hello and welcome :icon_mrgreen:
Widget hasn't logged on since October - from the south side hehe.

Hahaha gold... I didn't even look at the dates... just popped up as a new reply... oh well...
Hey Guys, thanks for the welcome messages :). Sorry I haven't logged in, been flat out, PC died :\.

Still haven't got a bike yet *sigh*.. think I'm being too fussy :S.. but soon hopefully as my license goes to 'R' in SEP...

Save "fussy" for the bike you get when you get your open licence. Any old GS will teach you how to ride.
Someone's now an owner of a blue naked 09' GS500 :icon_mrgreen: :woohoo:.. it's in QLD at the moment though as my brother picked it up for me, can't wait to get up there & have a ride :) (then eventually ride down to NSW).
Nice one mate! :thumb:
