Title: What brake pads?
Post by: pliskin on October 22, 2012, 10:38:47 AM
Anybody have advice on what kind of brake pads to get?

Any difference in Sintered, Semi-Sintered, or organic? I don't ride like a nut.

Also, why the heck is is so hard to find the right pads online? I'm looking at Denniskirk.com and bikebandit and when you do a search it shows the pads but does not say if they are front or rear.

I'm looking at these
http://www.bikebandit.com/ebc-organic-brake-pads?m=9752
It says they are for the rear but can't figure out how to find the front.

That link says rear. Picture is of a rear. All GS500 rear are the same. There are a couple different front brake calipers.

Copy from the right side of the screen on the ink:

Organic pads will wear out very fast on the front end of the GS. HH Stintered are pretty much the standard brake for these bikes. Personally, I'm a big fan of the EBC Extreme Pro pads - they seem to handle the heat generated by the single front rotor better than any other pad I've tried.
